Trance = Good

Binary Finary - 1999

One of the best trance tunes ever. Are you strictly into just trance/techno, or do you want to stick in some other, similar sounding stuff as well? If you want something a little different (yet still trancey), try:

VNV Nation - Saviour
VNV Nation - Genesis (full vocals, but it's very trancey)

Daedalus

Tony De Vit - I Don't Care
Gouryella - Ligaya (Biomekanika Mix)
VNV Nation - Fearless
VNV Nation - Epicenter
VNV Nation - Genesis (Any mix will do!)
Armin Van Buuren - Exhale
Cygnus X - Orange Theme (Any Mix)
Cygnus X - Positron (Armin Van Buuren Mix)
Viridian - Sunhump

I probably have more if you need anymore suggestions.

Sweet, I have always liked techno but had no where to start. I usually just listen to internet radio to get my techno fix.

"VNV Nation - Savior", is quite good

Well, IMO, none of these tracks would get my recommendation. I'd recommend you or your father should check out the best trance music forum I've found to date, in particular the DJ Promotion forum:

www.tranceaddict.com/forums/

Some of the sets that I pull out of here are amazing. A lot of DJ's will post sets just hoping for feedback. A lot of the guys/gals there are better than 90% of the Professional DJ's who tour the world and make big bucks, ie Oakenfold, Tiesto, PVD etc. Grab a couple sets and check out the track-listing, see what you/he likes.

This would be the best recommendation I could give, because musical taste is all personal. There's a large community of trancers there who'll gladly give their opinion on almost any trance or music related subject.

Edit (answering the OP):
Astral Projection - 1,000,000 Years from Today
Astral Projection - Chaos,
Astral Projection - They're all good, any track will do!!!!
Bamboo Forest - Vision
Luke Chable - Melburn (I don't know anybody who doesn't like this!)

VNV Nation - Paint It Black is top of my playlist atm after recommendation by Selerox :). I also can't stop listening to I Wish by Infected Mushroom, although it's not strictly trance (I have no real idea of trance, I've literally only just started listening to it thanks to 2K4). I first heard it on aaXess, actually :).

I haven't listened to trance for the past 4/5 years (mostly listening to electro/techno now), but off the top of my head here's some of my old favourites (some of it is more on the progressive side):

Max Graham - Airtight
James Holden - Horizons
Timo Mass pres. Mad Dogs - Make Room (James Holden Rmx)
Fortress - An Angel Saved My Life (Mark Shimmon & 3rd Degree Bern's Mix)
Moogwai - Viola
Oliver Klein - Rheinkraft
Der Dritte Raum - Hale Bopp (Original or Jackdaw Mix)
DJ Tiësto - Theme From Norefjell (DJ Jan & Christophe Chantzis Rmx)
Allure - Ran at Dawn
Push - Universal Nation
Fridge - Paradise (Nu Gray Mix)
LSG - I'm Not Existing
Anything by Kamaya Painters, Cryptomnesia is my personal favourite though.

Trance today doesn't compare to old school trance imo. :)

Alrighty, here's some non-trance tracks then:

Techno:
Almost anything by Chris Liebing, my faves are Stigmata 8 (B1), Es Ist Freitag Aaabend, Dandu Groove, Intruder, Next Try
Same goes for Glenn Wilson, faves are Cloaked, Sonic Junction, System Copy
Thomas Krome - Bitches From Hell (Thomas Krome Resurrection Edit), Demolition Disco
Chris McCormack - There Are Better Ways (original), Erase Techno
Dariush - Ira
DK - Murder Was The Bass
Sebastien Leger - Victory
Umek - Benozal (Gabry Fasano Rmx)
The Advent - Hurricane
Thomas Schumacher - Play Fast & Loose
Elektrochemie LK - Let's Roll
Christian Varela - Your Body Experience, Pitch Structures
Justin Berkovi - You're So Alien, Sustained Buxom Mad Chips and The Closer You Come
Adverse Match - No Hype
Johannes Heil - Paranoid Dancer

Electro:
Anything by Vitalic, especially his 'Poney EP' release, which contains the tracks Poney Part 1, Poney Part 2 (aka You Prefer Cocaine (Felix Da Housecat Rmx)), La Rock 01 and You Prefer Cocaine
Anything by Legowelt, I literally like every tune of his, but to mention a few: Disco Rout, Gotoburg Jacks, Dirty Tango and Pandamonium
FPU - Crockett's Theme (remake of Jan Hammer - Crockett's Theme)
Michel De Hey vs Secret Cinema - Another Sweater (Sterac Electronics Rmx)
Alan Braxe & Fred Falke - Rubicon
Tiga & Zyntherius - Sunglasses at Night (Tom Middleton Cosmos Re-edit)
Bolz Bolz - Take A Walk (Dima Neo-Romantic Rmx)
Bryan Zentz - D-Clash
Two Lone Swordsmen - Neuflex
Adam Beyer - Ignition Key (Speedy J Rmx)

I could probably mention loads of other tunes, but I better stop now. ;)

The techno tunes ranges from traditional techno to hard and minimalistic (aka schranz) to the more housy kind of techno. I don't know if they match your definition of 'techno' and if you're able to fit them into a trance mix, but I do reckon the Benozal remix will fit in nicely. Some of the electro tunes, especially Vitalic, could probably also easily fit into a trance mix as they have lots of synths as well.
