I am pleased to show for the first time the newly finished skinned and animated Sun disc Thrower unit that our skinner Feng has helped finish.

Working from my Sun Disc Mesh he improved my original mesh and tweaked it.

At some point soon the Arc spire will be done, so for those who voted for the arc spire dont you worry about that :D Things to look forward to will be the rain temple and priest in the future :) Duhprey is also working hard on the programming side with many new features being added to the test build of Rising Storm.

Things are coming along nicely on the project and we have gotten the bridge system just about worked out and placement of buildings from build menu. we are just waiting on the finished skinned bridge meshes from skinner and platform so we don't have to use these temp ones we are currently using.

Here are two screen-shots of how things look currently.

The island mesh is a temp one we are using until we get the rest of the grid system implemented.

Spent a few hours this morning working on modeling one of the few things I most dread modeling and that is a player model, give me a truck tank or aircraft and I can model it no problem, but on human organic models I just am no good.

Anyhow here is the Priest mesh I am working on modeling, right now blocking out the main parts and starting to tweak and adjust them. will probably get to modeling the head tomorrow.

Also have to redo the priest hat the current one was for reference

Here is an update from the latest build coder sent me, platforms are in. we still have to finish the rest of the platform system and scaling of the platform mesh and the weapon system meshes that sit on the platform. But I thought everyone would like to see how one can now build units off the bridges in the project.

We have gotten the bridge erode system implemented and are working out a few bugs and also working on adding in some optimization that will greatly speed up frame rates. This morning I put together a small video showing the new bridge erode effect.

Bridges will go from having the cracked textured to being actually cracked and then start to erode and fall away.

We have a good amount done on the unit placement and bridging systems and we just have to finish the last few features on the bridging system for it to be finished. the next set of things we will be implementing are.

1. Power system for the generators and temples
2. Unit attack and attack ranges


There is an internal team build demo that has everything in it that we have implemented so far but we will not be releasing anything until we get everything implemented and the MP working.

Small update today from the Rising Storm project: Our coder is back from vacation and is back to work busy implementing new stuff, Even though he just got back last night he took the time to implement our new Skybox texture I did up for the world map.. The new skybox is based off the original background sky and gives it a more classic feel for Rising Storm. Just thought you guys would like to see how it looks!

Got an update for everyone :) we are busy working on getting the first generator finished and our one skinner just about has the rain generator finished and ready for implementing ingame so we thought everyone would like to see how it looks so we took a quick screenshot of the new mesh!

Our coder is busy implementing the power system so temples and generators will now generate power around them allowing units to be built in their range.

We have now gotten it so buildings now require to be placed inside the power radius of a temple or generator or they cannot be built, when a temple or generator is selected the power icons spiral out and rotate around the temple or building that is selected.

I am very pleased to show today yet another update from the project :) our one texture artist "Feng" has finished the Man O War pool building mesh for the rain faction. The Man O war Jellyfish is in the works that goes along with the Man O War pool!

In our last updated we showed that the energy system was being implemented into Rising Storm, Since that update we have made improvements on it and implemented more of the system. Building now are set to require so many power supplies to be able to be built as in the original game and they must be of the type required.

We have also further implemented the building system for buildings, now when a building is placed from the build menu on the map it is not automatically built and instead will place the ghosted image of the building and the temple or outpost now shoots an energy bolt that travels to the site to construct the building. Also when any building from the priests build menu is placed it will not automatically be built but the priest now travels to the site to start it constructing.

Our Coder is currently implementing the resource system and resource harvesting collecting system so players can start to collect money from the storm geysers.

We have to correct the texture so the transparent black parts on clothes become see through.


Now onto the coding status update of our project. Our coder has been very busy working on implementing the attacking system and should have it all the way implemented soon so we will be putting a video together showing the start of game with the player building the islands temple and workshops then bridging out to enemy island and attacking the defense very soon!

We have been busy over the past weeks and our main artist Needa has done up reference sketches of the classic Rain workshop from NS as can be seen in the below images

Working from these sketches this weekend I completed the basic model level-1 Rain workshop mesh, been a learning experience for me because unlike most models I have done in the past that have been vehicles or other model this one has a lot of organic type curves and surfaces.
