If you shoot someone with a grenade, and it doesn't explode, the impact should kill them.

Sometimes I run around with my M16 in grenade mode (or, on rare occasions, the HK69), and out of nowhere somebody will run up in front of me. Insinctively, I shoot at them. The grenade hits them square in the head or chest, but doesn't explode since the grenade didn't have time to arm itself. Whenever this happens, the grenade should easily kill the person it hits, just from the impact. These things travel 1000 feet in a few seconds, so naturally they'd practically main anyone they hit. Plus they're pointed. Ouch.

Is the team planning to make the grenades cause more damage when they hit someone? I've been killed several times due to people withstanding these blows.

....Prolly made that post longer than it needed to be, but you get the idea.

They do, I've been shot at close range with an HK69 on several occasions and it's been an instant kill each time.

Actually, the 40mm low-pressure grenades used in the M203 and HK69 are not pounted. They all have round heads (take a look at the Real Life Gaming: INFILTRATION AMMUNITION PAGE for pictures near the bottom of the page).

Actually, unarmed grenades don't kill you instantly. When I play with bots, sometimes, I run up to them and fire a grenade at point blank range then run away. Since I usually play with average bots (I find them too accurate on the higher levels), I don't get hit by them.

*Bump*

Zund, Prehaps you're already damaged when they hit you? I dunno, maybe they do kill sometimes, but I've never seen it.

Either way, the team needs to crank up the damage the grenades do, to make positively sure that they kill you. Shooting someone with a grenade should easily be fatal.

Try a one on one with god mode on.
I think it usually takes 3 grenades to kill a bot.

I posted this a while back:
----------
MOSCOW, Russia -- Russian doctors have operated to remove a live grenade from the leg of a soldier wounded in Chechnya, the armed forces newspaper has reported.
Doctors and nurses performed the surgery clad in body armour and helmets, and draped flak jackets over the patient, who was hit by a grenade-launcher round in a battle near the southern Chechen town of Urus Martan.

The grenade did not explode, but was trapped, still live, in his right leg near the knee, according to accounts in the military's official newspaper, Krasnaya Zvezda (Red Star).

"Military doctors had to de-mine Junior Sergeant Andrian Chebodayev," the paper said.

The operation was carried out in an open field rather than inside a hospital, so that if the grenade blew up it would be less dangerous for the medical staff.

"We worked ... in silence, understanding each other perfectly," surgeon Yuri Sikorsky told the newspaper.

"The de-mining experts warned us the grenade still had one live capsule, which could explode. Physically, the work was not difficult, but the moral responsibility was 100 times greater. We really wanted to save the guy."

The surgeons removed the grenade and put it in a metal box for de-mining experts to defuse, the paper said.

The article doesn't specify what model of grenade launcher fired the shot, but I think we can take this as evidence that a grenade will penetrate flesh...

After some hunting I found this:

http://155.219.39.98/doctrine/task%20force%202000/st66040/html/Appendix.htm

and this

http://www.biggerhammer.net/manuals/23-31/f2331_9.htm (this is for the M79 though)

Im hoping for some clarity here (as I have a huge distrust for 'facts' published on the web). It states the muzzle velocity of the 203 to be in the 70 mph range. This would mean that getting hit anywhere should not be fatal. Even getting hit in the face, while being far from good, would not be likely to kill you. Gryphon, Shakken, anyone, please offer some clarity.

CoffeyCan,
It states that the muzzle velocity is 76 meters per second, not miles per hour. Which is 250 feet per second, or about 170 miles per hour. People have died from being hit by baseballs that are thrown at about 70-80 MPH.

I wasn't sure if a grenade hit to the head would kill you, but now I am.

Indiana. Kill me please.
I have checked in the past, and if I remember correctly a grenade hit to the body does somethign like 60 or 75 points of damage. A head hit kiils instantly.

I second that first-hand account: I've killed people at close range with 40mm grenades which did not explode. Only 2-3 times out of about six shots. I have a hell of a time remembering if I am in M203 or M16 mode. :( I cannot vouch for their health before the impact though.

HAHAHA

Grenade launchers are not CQB weapons and any one who uses them as such should be publically hung. I hope they fix the damn bulk system soon cause i for one am tired of every one using the damn things.

Does the bulk system account for only size or weight or some mixture of the two? I think that they should rate everything on bulk(size) and weight as well. The M16 and the SIG both have a bulk rating of 8. The SIG is smaller and made from lighter weight materials than the M16. IRL the SIG probably weighs less, but they have the same bulk, and that's not right.

If it's stupid, but works, it isn't stupid.

Just shut the bloody hell up. The M16 is my weapon of choice, and I always pack its grenade attachment. Sometimes an enemy will run out of nowhere while I have it in grenade mode (in maps like Cuban Dawn and Peru), and I'll end up shooting them with that. **** happens, you idiot.

What ever!

The grenade launcher is a newbie weapon and takes very little skill to use. I also use a m-16 no scope, no launcher, but hey i get most of my kills with a pistol. You need to lighten up a bit there hoss. I gaurantee you if you talked to me that way to my face instead of hiding behind a computer I would wreck your sorry ass. If you think by using the grenade launcher it makes you a better player it doesnt. I was in a game today and everyone was carring the m203 and the HK launchers WTF is that?

Viper, chill out. You talk of such things as "if you weren't hiding behind a computer, I'd wring your neck," well, same goes for you. :D

Anyway, I think the grenade launchers take a lot of skill to use effectively. With the Hk 69, to use it properly you have to guess how far what you are trying to hit is, and match with the aiming square. I personally stopped using the M-16a2 grenade launcher, cause it just doesn't feel right when I saw what the hand guard should look like. When I did use it, grenade sniping was an art form in itself, sometimes more efficient than a robar, and 8 times the fun. :D
