you guys there's this huge problem with voter fraud where voter fraud happens all the time and so the voters are getting frauded by all this voter fraud going around. we have to suppress this voter fraud by passing unprecedented voting requirement laws in swing states so that voter fraud doesn't fraud us voters any longer.

[m]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuOT1bRYdK8[/m]

This saddens and infuriates me that my home state would do such a thing. And brazen quotes like that prove the illegitimacy of the law while the courts just twiddle their thumbs.

Good thing the Texas photo id law was blocked by the courts. Now it is their job to apply the same reasoning to all state laws, especially PA.

If PA goes Romney, it is solely because of this law, and nothing more.

They can't win without voter suppression.

Since you live in philly, how many people do you know or have contact with do not have a valid photo id in order to vote in November? Like how many people don't have a driver's license because they use public transportation all the time.

Everyone I know has an ID, but most are dumb and won't vote because they think politics are stupid.

These political threads should be consolidated because of how quickly the subjects are changed. I think it'd be more convenient, at least.

Am I the only one amused at how quickly they like to move from subject to subject? So now we are talking about voter fraud? Issue ADHD much?

Considering some of us (not naming names) won't budge on the other subjects and come to a consensus, it is time to move on to other issues.

I just think it's so typical of Democrats and Liberals. Nobody is buying their crap on the economy. It's just too easy to dismantle. So they change the subject to other things instead. As if they think everyone will forget what is going on if they jump around to as many issues as they can.

You're right. I do have a one track mind. It's the economy, stupid.

And the obstructionist Republicans and Conservatives in Congress are mostly, if not close to all to blame. Blocking everything and anything the President is trying to accomplish. Why do you think Congress as a whole is significantly and drastically lower-rated than the President? Not to mention the Republicans and Conservatives will allow people to forget the lessons learned from the He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named/You-Know-Who (you know, Dubya) administration and the conditions in which we had going into the crash and recession. So they keep peddling the snake oil saying that conditions are truly terrible now and getting worse day after day, and go back to the "good ol' days" before the recession. And history will repeat it's self once again.

History. History never changes.

define "nobody."
if the election were held tomorrow morning, Obama would win easily.

if you think the Democrats are selling crap, then that would have to mean that the GOP is selling crap mixed with dirt and sawdust. all they want to do is defund, deregulate, and lower taxes.
we've tried this numerous times. it does not work.

Well we already went over this one, but I'll point it out every time if I have to. Democrats had complete control of the house, the senate, and the executive branch. They got to pass their stimulus package, and healthcare. They could have done more. In fact a global warming bill was on the table, but they shelved it because they were afraid it would affect their 2010 chances. The idea that Republicans are completely responsible is simply not true. Democrats are just as much to blame for the gridlock. They won't even bring the Republican bills up for vote, or allow anyone to add amendments for goodness sakes!

define "nobody."

Well first of all I dispute that map's analysis of several states. Nevada, Michigan, and Ohio are all statistical ties if you look at the RCP averages. These states are all up for grabs. Still Obama does appear to have an advantage in the electoral vote right now, but the majority of the campaign still has to come.

But to really answer this question of if people are buying what Obama is selling we need to look at some other measures.

Only 33% of voters believe we are better off than we were 4 years ago.

Obama's favorable rating now underwater, even among women.

And finally polling nationally is a virtual tie.

Americans do not believe that Obama has worked, and they do not believe that they are as well off as they were 4 years ago. That's why Democrats the past few days have had such a hard time answering that question. They know that nobody really agrees. If this election becomes a referendum purely on Obama, I don't think he stands a chance. Luckily for him elections are rarely so simple.

that's my point.

the GOP claims to have the answer on the economy (even though cutting taxes and spending doesn't work) because they know that they're losing socially. their tent is growing ever smaller, becoming less and less inclusive. everything but the economy is working against Republicans. the Democrats have the female vote, the black vote, and the Latino vote in the bag.

even if people truly believed that Obama's policies were inferior to Romney's, they're afraid of his (and your party's) baggage. yours is the party of anti-choice, anti-gay, anti-women's rights, anti-healthcare, and pro-drug war. it's also tenuously anti-science and medicine. depending on how you look at their soaring rhetoric regarding personal responsibility, you could sometimes say that they're anti-charity.

I mean hell, most Republicans still don't like Mitt Romney but they're shit out of choices. he wouldn't be here if your party could have scrounged up a better batch of candidates.
did you hear the GOP ratify their platform during the convention?? Bhoener asked for Yeas and Nays. there were as many Nays as Yeas!!

there's just as many people yelling NO as YES. but of course they ignore it and move on as the teleprompter (and their remaining shreds of dignity) command.

your party is a mess of a joke of a shell of its former self.

So...we're basically admitting that the only way Obama wins is if he's able to successfully demonize his opponent? Sounds accurate to me. We know he can't run on his record, and it sounds from this thread that he can't run on issues either.

unfortunately, that is absurd hyperbole. sorry.
I thought that's what we were doing since you so eloquently stated that Obama is the obvious choice.
at what point did I say anything about illegality?

of course what he's doing is legal. that's the problem.
it doesn't change the fact that he's doing it. tax havens and loopholes were created by people like Mitt Romney for people like Mitt Romney.
:!panic!: Umm.... do you not know how tax law works? Look, you can complain when you have lots of money and you want to invest it wisely or do whatever it is you want to do with it. When you are donating more than 15% of your income to the federal government, let me know.
oh of course not.
I'm sorry.... but you have the god damn Joe Biden. Resident racist, bigot, misogynist....

YOU HAVE JOE BIDEN.

There is literally nothing more to say on the subject of Vice Presidents.
it's difficult to comprehend the mental gymnastics you must perform in order to justify liking this guy.
I think you somewhere missed the fact that I never said I cared about Paul Ryan at all, let alone like the guy.

Man Jacks sure does love him some Democrat dick doesn't he? I really really hope a similar video of that teleprompter bullshit shows up from the DNC so he can finally realize that both of them are full of shit.

Seriously politics needs to die off already. You have your democrat sheeple and your republican sheeple, and you have people like me who know both parties are full of shit. Why are people are so stupid?

is English your first language?

Romney's entire camp has already publicly admitted that they're not concerned with running on facts. Romney's supporters have publicly admitted that voter ID laws are their best hope of beating Obama.

if anyone needs to demonize their opponent to win, it's the GOP.
oh he's a socialist.
oh he's a secret Muslim.
oh he's working for the Taliban.
oh he's anti-American.
oh he's a radical Marxist.

take your head out of the sand and open your eyes.
I'm sorry.... but you have the god damn Joe Biden. Resident racist, bigot, misogynist....
so Joe Biden is a racist, bigot, AND misogynist?
when did you become Larkin?

Senator Biden has substantial foreign policy experience dating at least as far back as the Egypt–Israel Peace Treaty of 79'. he was one of the senior ranking members of both the Judiciary and Foreign Relations Committees. he has been incredibly successful as a representative for Delaware; testament to the number of times he has been re-elected consecutively.

but yeah.
he's a racist who hates women. Brizz you're not grasping at straws, you're struggling on life support
