Frags vs. Kills???

Frags Vs. Kills NGStats Like
In The NG World Stats there are two seperate catagories though for Kills and Frags.

Kills are the number of times that you kill someone. Frags are the number you get when you take away your suicides.

I always thought Kills are the total number of kills and Frags are the number of kills where the targets body is turned into little gibblets!!!

So, who's fault is this anyway? Conventionally "frag" (v) meant to deliberately kill one of your own men (usually your CO). That was derived from the original meaning (v) to kill with a frag (n) grenade. Who made "frag" (v) a general purpose word for kill? John Carmack?

Fragment (frag being the short term):
Is to create several bits out of what used to be one big bit. It has "separated" the person's body.
CHRYSt has it correct when used by ngstats. Kill, is when you kill an opposing player. The "frags" are kills less teamkills and suicides. Then there's points, where you get assigned bonuses for flag capping, killing the flag carrier, etc.
A frag in Vietnam, which is where I believe the practise started, consisted of enlisted men throwing a grenade into the tent of a commanding officer who was not leading them the way he should have. They'd throw a grenade in his tent while he was sleeping and fragment his body.

The first time I saw the word 'frag' was in the Doom collection manual (the one that had Doom, Doom ][ and a load of crappy levels). Anyone seen the word earlier than that?
