hell, Americans are leaving their own country to get healthcare elsewhere, and your own insurance companies are setting up the deals because your local hospitals are so expensive.

Missing the point right there.
It's not about America being the centerpoint of the global economy, it's about one of several main actors in the global economy suddenly dropping dead.
The same would have happened if China's or Europe's economy had collapsed the way yours has.

I've been hearing Hospitals in Alberta have been closed down for a few weeks due to lack of funds.
All unnecessary medical procedures such as cancer and heart disease treatment are to be rescheduled after the first of the year.

This is the second time that a European has posted a thread claiming oh joy America is finally getting with the program as far as health care goes.
Unfortunately I don't you have the faintest clue what's going on with US politics. Like kiff said. Anybody that likes this bill doesn't know what's in it. The ONLY reason this bill is still alive is so that congress doesn't make Obama look bad. Neither side is really getting what they want, and few believe that we do have is going to help anybody. I've never seen such widespread discontent over a bill. Both sides of the aisle want this thing dead now.

Do we really need a new thread everytime some benchmark has been reached? We did this when it was getting presidential attention, we did it when the house passed it, we're doing it when the Senate passes it but is still has to go back to the house, get fought over for a bit and then go on to actually get signed into law.
In the meantime, nothing new will get said and the thread will explode with people essentially reposting their arguments from the last two threads, etc., etc. Let me summarize: it will not be found unconstitutional but many people believe that it is overstepping the bounds of what was intended. We can't afford to pay for this in our economy but we can't afford to not help people. All Republicans are backwater racists who hate progress and all Democrats are socialist idiots that can't make use of the sense god gave them. This will save our country. It will destroy our country. Neocons.
