Just got done playing some Red Faction Multiplayer on the demo (for the PC of course).

While it tries hard to offer something new with the Geo Mod, truth be told, it doesn't add much for multiplayer. It's just another player in the DM and CTF worlds. Same old, Same old. Speaking of old, UT still is more fun multiplayer.
Maybe I am being biased, because only 3 maps of RF were available. But none of those maps were as interesting as any of the UT maps.
Some new weapons are interesting though.
The skins leave alot to be desired. And the graphics sometime seem to have been made with a crayon. Definately not what I would expect graphically in the year 2001 - not quite as good quality as some older games (ever 3 year older games).
The net code was decent, some lag on slower servers, to be expected (I use cable). However, the movement of the players good stand to be more fluid on even the faster servers.
If RF wants to become as popular as UT ever did, the maps are going to have to offer some original stuff and put the geo mod feature to good, logical use. Otherwise, fraggers don't have much incentive to leave their current favorite multiplayer game.

The RF singleplayer demo, on the otherhand, was very impressive. The singleplayer is promising to be a winner.
