somewhere; sometime?
is anyone else playing?
I am.

loving it so far.
the hacking aspect is really cool and integrated into the rest of the gameplay very intuitively. you don't even need weapons for most of the missions; even though there's a lot to choose from. driving could be better (similar to Sleeping Dogs) but most of the game is spent on foot.

shootouts are my favorite part.
stealth is awesome and works very well, but even if you screw up and the situation descends into chaos, it's not the least bit frustrating. between the intensity of the sound effects and punch of the firearms to the realism of the particle effects it's almost more enjoyable to get caught while sneaking than to finish the entire mission unnoticed.

once you learn how to make use of your tools, hacking, and weapons all on-the-fly and roll them into your plan of action, you can overcome any situation like a master cyber ninja.

Looks good. I just picked it up but haven't had time to play yet. What card are you using and what resolution, if you don't mind me asking.

EDIT: Just played through the first 20 minutes. First impressions are kind of underwhelming. Driving sucks for sure. Handling is awful and the AI of the other cars is ridiculous. Game play wise, not sure yet. It feels...loose to me and the hack mechanic feels gimmicky; fun, but cheap. Maybe - hopefully - it will get better, but like I said, my initial impression isn't near what they hype had me thinking. Looks pretty though.

Meh. I've watched a lot of people playing on Twitch and I feel like I've played this game before. I'll wait for a sale, if anything.

I'll just say this; suck it up and pirate it if you can't stomach the thought of throwing cash at it...
because it's a very fun game.

Carbon needs to get further than 20 minutes to form a real "impression."
and Al I can tell you that after having played everything from GTA, Sleeping Dogs, Saints Row, True Crime, Mafia, and Just Cause to this that you definitely have not played Watch_Dogs before. it actually feels and handles distinctly from those similar titles. it's a nice change of pace AND a nice change of scenery. almost no games are set in the Midwest anymore and modern Chicago looks great.

W_D is not a GTA killer.
but it's already 10x better than most of those other games I just mentioned.

Well, for games that it turned out I did enjoy, 20 minutes got me that very impression, so having to give a game more than that to impress seems like it needs to persuade me rather than grab me.

It isn't a bad game and I didn't say that. The hype is just that....hype. The AI is not good - compare it to what you will - and the hacking is just another button push at the right time; one step above a quick time event or some such script.

It isn't really hacking. Imagine of lock picking in Thief were just a single button push: it would remove a very important aspect of gameplay. Seeing as hacking is one of the core gameplay mechanics, they have over-simplified it and most of the other aspects of the game are built around this overly simplistic idea.

Nitpicking I suppose, but I am not wrong.

the AI feels intelligent and responsive in most situations.
hacking is just a button push about half the time. the other half you are actually forced to solve puzzles, explore building systems, search for access routers, and sometimes even scale your surroundings to locate them.

I'm sorry that you didn't play long enough to experience that.
you are slightly wrong.

Game seems to be fairly unoptimized - typical Ubisoft. I will most likely skip or wait for a nice drop in price.

Also Ubi.. yes you did downgrade the graphics. You do it, Crytek does it, From Software did it.. and dumbasses will continue to do it. Stop that shit.
