Because chamera swithces to third person when you:

Enter the vehicle;
Feign death;
Usind Hoverboard;
(not to notice after end of match, because its non-gameplay sequence)

So UT3 is not First Person Shooter - FPS, but its still FPS, because it is

Fast Paced Shooter.

You dont reload weapons, there is no shell-shock (shock rifle knockout maybe, but its little) and you may easily dodge from flying rocket while carrying 10 guns.

So, its not FPS now, but yet FPS.

Wow, what a pointless and wrong thread.

Although, I really would have liked if there was a First Person mode for all the Vehicles, Turrets, Hoverboard. It would have been so much more immersive! I really liked in UT3 that you could see the player character hands holding most of the weapons. Feeling like you're in the vehicle/turret with your arms on the controls would have rocked.

The only thing that this has going against it is that it can be very disorientating. It was hard to control vehicles this way in UT2k4. Do any other games handle this effectively?

The HUD doesn't really look like what you would see in any real vehicles. There is no speedometers, altimeters, fuel gauges, indicators etc etc It doesn't feel like you've entered a real vehicle. Do vehicles even accelerate in UT3? It seems that they go at a pretty much constant speed...
