Upgrading to a new system and trying to decide which way to go. Intel or AMD. Anyone got any advice?

Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. ATHELON DEFINATELY. I JUST upgraded to a k7650. Other than being $125 cheaper, I have noticed NO difference.

Ok, here's the scoop:
Athlon 0wns PIII until somewhere around 800 Mhz. Then they even out and PIII starts to take the lead. This is due to the caches. The next generation Athlon will fix this and 0wn PIII. Until then, go with Athlon for under 800 Mhz and PIII for over 800 Mhz.

One happy little addendum to DR's post above.
This only holds true if you combine an Intel 800+ with pricey RDRAM, which is still around $500 for 128MB.
Otherwise, the Athlon w/PC133 SDRAM continues to 0wn.
You might want to wait about 1.5 months for the Thunderbird Athlon mobos. I know there's always somthing new right around the corner, but this is a big enough improvement to make it worth it. It's like jumping from an escort to a mustang, rather than an escort to a contour.
There's a noodle in my streudel, and it's name is Minky Boodle. -- Space Ghost
