Something with the sound, when you fire or somebody closeby fires it should dampen all the other sounds like abient sounds (simulating your hearing being shocked/adapting), this would become of importance as soon as stamina and bulk start affecting the movement sounds.
The sounds of movement are not really correct rihght now, no matter what youcarry your almost inadible till you are 2 meters away, this is especially what is wrong with running.

When runninhg the sound should depend on 3 things, stamina, bulk and the number of weapons. Stamina wouldinclude thr breathing sound (which there is none till all of it is gone) the sound opf breathing should increase in volume linear, also affecting hearing ability. Also it would increase the sound of the footsteps (just go sprinting all out for a mile and you'll know whati mean) when the soldier gets tired his fee will make a heavier slapping sound.
Bulk, well it speaks for itself, the more weight the more noise.
The number of weapons would increasde the clanging noise (guns banging against eachother and general jingling of the variety of weapons.

Yes, I like this idea. Operation Flashpoint is supposed to be implementing this... dunno how easy it would be to implement something like this in UT using uscript though...

well you could just script it so it changes the volumes of certain sounds, or perhaps by intricate system of activating/deactivating ambient sounds.
