HOMEWORLD 2 GOES GOLD

Sequel to Award-Winning Space-Based Real-Time Strategy Game

To Ship in North America September 16

LOS ANGELES, CA (August 25, 2003)- Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games) announced today that Homeworld®2, the sequel to 1999's award-winning, space-based real-time strategy game, Homeworld, has gone gold and will ship to North American retailers September 16, 2003.

Homeworld 2, the sequel to one of 1999's highly acclaimed RTS games, returns players to the helm of the most powerful space armada in the universe as they battle to keep their home. The highly-anticipated follow up title includes multiplayer competition for up to five other players, in addition to an engrossing single player saga, and features startling space effects like dust gas clouds, wispy nebulae, and ghostly derelict hulks of space ships rendered with spectacular Hollywood-style special effects.

"Homeworld 2 takes our commitment to quality to the next level, by including a number of visual improvements, as well as refinements to the gameplay and user-interface," said Dan Irish, Executive Producer of Homeworld 2. "We're excited to deliver the next chapter in the Homeworld saga, and are looking forward to seeing the fans' reactions to our improvements of the series."

To guarantee a copy of Homeworld 2 on release day, gamers can reserve a copy through their local retail store or online site. Customers who reserve a copy at Best Buy, GameStop, Amazon.com, Musicland and CompUSA will receive a bonus Homeworld 2 CD with never before seen concept art, trailer, poster, and much more, while supplies last.

Homeworld 2 is being developed by Relic Entertainment and will be available September 16, 2003 on the PC for a suggested retail price of $49.99 with an ESRB "Teen" rating. For more information, log on to http://www.homeworld2.com.

Not much to say really, except "Yay" maybe. Hopefully it won't turn out to be just another bad sequel to a, IMO, great game.

Hopefully they get rid of that stupid resource limitation thing they had in cataclysm. Of course, I havn't read anything on it...but I sure hope it's as good as the first, and way better than the 'sequel/expansion' that cataclysm was.

I liked Cataclysm ok as an expansion. I didnt like how it was less salvage based, because salvage roxxored my boxers.

You'd spend 15 minutes taking over a battlecruiser, and then the next mission you'd get something better, which kinda sucked.

The first one the stuff you took over you actually valued.

ok i just prey that it isnt so damn easy to research everything. i kept starting a cataclysm game and ending up with all techs in far to little time :( leaving me nothing to do other than build boringly small fleets :( maybe with the new engine there wont be such a horrible limit to units and we can have HUUUGE fights :)

    Game Notes:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    Republic: The Revolution is set in Novistrana, an ex-Soviet state, ruled
    by a corrupt and brutal dictator. With a personal vendetta against the
    President and discontent spreading throughout the nation, now is the
    moment to seize power. Time to start a revolution - will it be to
    liberate the masses or to become their new oppressor?
    Starting with a single loyal supporter create a powerful nationwide
    faction strong enough to oust the President and take control. Using
    either your Influence, Wealth or Force, gain the allegiance of prominent
    public figures including members of the Secret Police, Councillors,
    Celebrities, Priests, and Criminals. Hundreds of diverse actions enable
    you to order and manipulate the masses from rallies and riots to
    constructing crime syndicates, holding charity galas, organising secret
    police 'hits' or broadcasting news propaganda.
    Threats come from seven other factions, all vying for supreme control.
    Over-shadowing everything is the President who will do anything to hold
    onto power. Be as ruthless or as compassionate as you want, but beware,
    as every action can have untold repercussions and consequences on the
    future of your Republic.
    Game Features:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    * HUNDREDS OF ACTIONS such as Bribe, Contract Kill, Alpha Squad Hits,
      Defame, Terrorise, Gifts and Brainwash help you gain extra support
      or silence your opposition.
    * ALL NEW ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE creates responsive enemy factions,
      which launch tactical offensives against your every move increasing
      the challenge and ensuring an individual gaming experience for every
      player.
    * 'TOTALITY,' A HIGHLY ADVANCED NEW ENGINE uses millions of polys to
      create astoundingly lifelike graphics / special effects AND simulates
      the lives of thousands of people, providing them all with individual
      routines and behavioural patterns.
    * THOUSANDS OF VARIABLES allow you to decide what kind of leader you
      will be. Use compassion or force; the style of play is up to you.
    * FREELY EXPLORE THREE VAST cities which all take their inspiration
      from great East European Countries - all mapped out in minute detail.
    Special thanks to our friends in BURGER for their help with this one!

The 'expansion' was made from a different set of deveopers, (barking dog instead of relic) no?
