In response to moaning about "Nerfing" Someone from the Firearms team said something like "Asking us to balance the mod without 'nerfing' is like asking us to drive across town making only left turns".

Then again the firearms team couldn't balance themselves or anything else for that matter if their life depended on it.
Firearms has always been the most screwed up mod I've played, and I've been playing mods forever. From the first release up to now all they did is weaken basically every weapon untill they all took half a clip of headshots from point blank range to kill. Rather then upping some weapons up to compete with other weapons they chose to just lower everything to near uselessness.
The same happened to cs BTW.
In the beginning a burst from a mp5 to the chest would usually mean your end. A single headshot would too (unless you got lucky and a 9mm or .45 hit your hellmet, in which case you had to endure getting your screen kicked around severely hearing a loud bonecrushing smack and wobbling around for a bit). As the mod progressed however everything (except the awp) got weaker and weaker ending up with what we have left today.
