DM-165 [Final][PC][PS3][Pics]

================================
D M - 1 6 5
================================

Version 1.00
Last update 01/04/10
Cooked with UT3 2.1

Filename: DM-165
Author: DeathoX 8 (a.k.a. XYZ 8000)
Website: http://XYZ8000.Altervista.org (a bit outdated, currently working on an update...)

Description
================================

A little remake of my DM-BCE_10100101 that I made for fun in a short time.

It contains mostly custom meshes (made with Blender), and some extremely advanced and sophisticated visual effects that provide a completely new game experience.
It can be pretty heavy on the eyes, so please don't play this for twelve hours straight (I know you will be tempted to).

Gameplay wise the map is a quite close remake of my UT map, but the walkways are larger and it's a bit harder to fall off the map. I have also added a bit more cover and trickjumps.
It is still a pretty open falloff map, so it's not really suitable for competitive play. I recommend playing against bots skilled enough to know how to lift jump.

Enjoy

Since you didn't replay to anyone here & on Epic yet, I dunno if I have to post here or on Epic ?

But anyway, I wanted to let you know that it's a nice concept, your custom stuff look unique & play also good

I have few bad points to mention...

The most distracting effect (even if it look very cool for the first few seconds) is the rotating rings around the player. At first, I thought it was something that retain the player on the walkway since we're in space & the gravity is normal. But after seeing that only the players as that ring effect it become unfair & to much distracting anyway. I do think it would look ridiculous to see all players around with that effect lol! TBH, I would remove it.

I notice that your crystal use the terrain footstep sound.

Last thing is the space look very bare & the red hole effect don't fit very well imo.

Except those, it was fun

THX for the April fool gift

Hello, thanks everybody for the feedback and sorry for the delay in my reply.

The rotating rings around the map are meant to be annoying , being this a first april map I decided to play around a bit with UT3's rendering engine and see if I could mess things up. I think I pretty much reached my goal

I forgot to change the physical material of the crystals, thanks for spotting those wrong footsteps. I probably won't release an updated version just for that though.

I agree on the space being pretty bare, but I think that the map would have been unplayable if I added more decorations around considering the HOM effect.

Thanks to everyone who played it

Cool finally tried this one

This is definitely one of those fun and different maps and it can be enjoyable to play. It's a setting with what I like to call an "orange" hole, spinning gyros, lights shooting off into space above you from the crystals and what seems to be ice block paths although probably not frozen water in space. If you try this map, then that is what awaits you. The lifts are a welcome surprise and the placement of the powerups near the edge of this space map makes it interesting. This is a map of paths, ramps and some lifts and it's a challenge to try and use the sniper to nail someone on the other side. It seems simple to play at first, but it isn't easy; although, it can be easy to fall.

Cool Good at visuals.

This space map looks tangible and excitement. Like the crystal pillars, rotated rings and icy blocked floors and lifts. No matter how that the thing at the bottom is the "orange" hole, seems pretty much decent for it. This map's effect goes blurry in just few seconds on your eyes while exploring, aiming and fragging; and fun. Interesting gameplay and the bots are good (but average). Don't let the bots will fall you over the edge, at least the player load recommendation is at least four players.
