The bricks on the first picture don't seem to be casting any shadows on the surface. At the very least they could use some ambient occlusion or something. Otherwise looks great.

Shadow texels would be way too blurry for that.
Unless you use shadowmaps with some ludicrous size.
AO on the ground doesn't make a lot of sense in this lighting condition, it would just get cancelled out by light from the snow and hemisphere.
