LAN game how?

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

I have two PC's with Unreal installed - one is a 166MMX, the other is a P3 500 - connected with two network cards. Both are running the 225f patch.

I can't find a way to get a LAN game of any type running. I wonder whether it is because I only have one Unreal CD. Does one need two copies of the game to run this?

If it's not that then I don't know. Please help!

Unreal uses the TCP/IP protocol.
This allows it to run over the net, same for a LAN.
The computer you use as the server needs its own unique IP addy as well as the other computer.
All this is done in the network setup in settings/control panel/network
Give the server this addy for the NETWORK card (not dialup networking)
192.168.0.1 (ip addy)
255.255.255.0 (subnet mask <never changes on any computer> )
other computer...
192.168.0.2
255.255.255.0

NOW 2nd computer in Gateway add....
192.168.0.1 (the other computer)

close all windows, it may prompt for the Win98(95) CD or disks and then reboot.

THis should do it. Repost success/failures here... /~unreal/ubb/html/wink.gif
