im having trouble playing UT here. im most comfortable with using my right mouse button for jump and my left mouse button for primary fire. but then i cant use secondary fire. until i get a 3 button mouse and those are hard to find I got 2 choices. ditch the secondary fire or use a button on my keyboard.

This shouldnt be a question, but its kinda akward and hard having to reach over and hit the jump button on my keyboard. I gotta keep my hands on the moving keys and the mouse for aiming and looking around.

the big question is what would be the best button for jump? what do all you 2 button mice people use?

I have a two button mouse.

i use my arrow keys to walk back, strafe left strafe right and UP is JUMp.

My right click Runs foward.

While my left hand is contrlling my movement i can slide my pinky to hit control for my secondary fire.
I can also use shift to duck.

And with my left hand i can also easily access my : insert, delete, home, end, page up etc keys for weapon bindings. Also have mouse scroll which i really dont use :p

Also on my left hand my thumb can hit the '0' key on the numpad to switch to my X-LOC when i play ctf.
As you can see my left hand does most the work...

BTW:Invert Mouse!!!!!!

I use a four-button mouse, and my controls are:

Left mouse Button: Primary Fire
Right Mouse Button: Secondary Fire
Middle Mouse Button: Translocator
WASD: Movement
Spacebar: Jump
Control: Crouch
Side Mouse Button: It's a secret! :p

Try switching around the Secondary Fire on your keyboard until you find something comfortable. Don't EVER go without Secondary Fire. It's just plain suicidal (and stupid). ;)

if you're using a keyboard with your left hand, the standard is

w - forward
a- left
s-back
d- right

space bar - jump.

this seems pretty natural to me so you might want to try it.

i use a stick for movement, so i just hit - well, the jump button :)

out.

Remember, Dont use someones controls just because they are good with them. Jsut sit down one day and fig out what buttons you need easy access to and the most efficient way to get to em. Took me a good week to fine tune my controls.

W = Forward
Q, Z = Strafe left (I use Mouselook for fine-tuned positioning and turning to go around corners and such)
E, C = Strafe Right
X = Backward
Left Ctrl = Crouch
Left Alt = Feign death/drop flag
Space bar = Jump

The reason I do this is for strafe-dodging. I can strafe-dodge in CTF LGI (135/35) forward or backward with great accuracy with this setup. It takes a little practice going backward, but can be handy when you have the flag (I don't suggest this, generally, for CTF-Lava Giant or CTF-Hydro Bases for obvious reasons).

L.Mouse=Pri. Fire
