Yeh but AKs are still cheaper than any gun on the market in 3rd world countries. I highly doubt I'd see them with a revolver.
Look for some photo albums of when Aristide got outed. You'll see a lot of very strange weaponry in the of the poorest countries in the world.

Ohh yeah. Haiti. All kinds of old M1 Garands turned up. A lot of really heavy combloc stuff too, but no ammo. They just posed by em.

Except...Infiltration soldiers are not mercenaries...
What are INF soldiers than? They are closer to mercenaries than anything else. A soldier of a nation, needs the same uniform (some helmets are diferent) and the specific armory.

@Arethusa:
If you speak about a 3rd world army, they have mostly AK's and eastern magazine fed pistols, or G3's, FAL's also with eastern pistols.
If you speak about terrors, rebells, guerillas, and what ever, than yes, those guys have what ever exist. I doubt we will have some untrained, second class fighter in INF.
SS should keep it to soldiers, paramilitaries, merceneries and special forces.

Honestly I rather like to see a revolver in INF than a Desert Eagle.

well what if we wanted to simulate an Neo American revolution where you'd have Military & Police vs Militia & Civilan type situations. You'd definetly need to have typical hunting gear as well as revolvers, ect ect. ;)

When Seal Team Six (Naval Special Warfare Development Group) was formed they often used S&W model 66 in .357 caliber.

You just can't beat their reliability. In harsh conditions and CQB, sometimes it is more important to just have something that will go bang everytime.

If a magnum revolver replaces the Desert Eagle, even I would say yes.

Me too, cuz INF is so military, but I think mercs do not contradict that. I would like to have soldiers, but those require a nation relation and a specific armory.
Mercs are the closest to someone who uses different weapons and is a profssional combatant.
Beppo stated out, that in INF they are kinda mercs, but it might be his impression. Logically it seems to be that.

But who knows how SS fixes that thing in INF:Source.

My significant other's dad has one of those, inherited from his own dad. It's a really nice gun with excellent balance and ergonomics.

I've always been under the impression that the soldiers in Infiltration were actual soldiers.

Soldiers are generally assigned weapons from a specific armory. Mercenaries use pretty much anything they get their hands on. Now, playing INF in a squad of 6 in which two guys are armed with M16M203, one guy has a P90, another has a FAMAS, another an AKMSU, and the last guy has a G3A3, they're all definately not running off the same armory.

... Does it really matter? Makeup your own background story if you need one! Not even mercs will yell in all variety of langueages we see on servers now, so what?

I like the flexible armory a lot I spent quite some time to optimize my loadouts.

If that is a problem to realism than better ask why 6 adult man with all kind of weapons sacrifice themselves on guarding a silly CD... while it takes a ten year old with a gallon of gas and a match to destroy it ...

Can I be a homocidal alien ninja robot from the fifth dimension that has integrated himself into the world's armies to prevent a second alien race bent on universal domination from gaining a foothold on Earth to control the one resource it needs: Cotton?

Sure.

As long as you aren't carrying an S&W N Frame revolver. :)

My preception is still that weapons should only be bothered to be made if one would actually every want to use it over one of the weapons in game. Right now there's hardly a use for any handgun, nontheless a revolver...
I see the INF guys as SF people who have no specific nation and an armory that has everything. The only reason to ever ever limit your armory is if you make a nation-specific scenario, and IMO that's quite on the far end of the priority list for what INF needs.
