anything i've posted before was with much lower settings, that is also not on fire boot up with fresh ram, it's after running Ued for about an hour, so i'm pretty sure those are accurate to what it should be.

UT is really a workout for the entire computer.. the performance (eg fps) is very proportional to the CPU speed. Not all games are like that, but it's because of UT's great physics (insert a little sarcasm, but not too much) and also because its engine is slightly older than the q3 engine (which doesn't get vast differences in fps with cpu change)

just something for anyone who cared =)

*bump*

someone started a new fps thread. I say we keep it all together here. Its nice to be able to just read one thread to get all the fps info. (this is called bumping when you have an actual reason to bump something, as opposed to just liking to see your threads on the first page).

Good call Boom.

Hey admins is there anyway to get a permanant link to this thread? Maybe on the main PU page or the main forum page? This has to be one of the most informative threads here at PuF.

MOE's new system...

Well, similar to Boom, I got a:

1.2 ghz Athalon
256 megs RAM
Voodoo 3000 TV AGP

Min 34
Max 75
Average = 53
All goodies on HIGH

I am certain that my monitor is slowing me down. I'll keep messing with it and post again when I get this figured out :(

MOE

P.S. I can't really say I'm disappointed the game looks SO much better!

Ok, just finished tweaking everything and running 100% stable:

Thunderbird 1Ghz 200mhz fsb @ 1.2Ghz 266mhz fsb
V3-3000 166mhz @ 187mhz

Cityintro flyby:

Min: 45 fps
Max: 135 fps
Avg: 71 fps

No extra fans or coolings used. When I have time, I am going to install a case-fan I have lying around to blow directly onto the V3 and try to overclock it more.

I know the bottleneck is my V3 as for every mhz I overclock it, I get an immediate performance gain. At the default 166mhz, i only got 63 fps average.

hmmm

Ok I have retweeked my system (see specs 2 posts above :))and now get an average of 65 fps.

However my max is always 75. When I run the "timedemo stats" from the tool bar my fps never exceed 75. I believe my monitor setting is slowing me down. :(

Under control panel my monitor allows me to chose from one of the following:

50
65
75
Optimal

I have chosen optimal as it gives me the sanme results as 75.

The monitor is a 17 inch HP. I am using the standard windows default monitor driver ... is there anything I can do to increase this? HP's site allows me to download the windows default monitor driver that I am already using (geez thanks for the support )

Any ideas? Anyone? Bueller?

ooooooooh my turn. :)

P3 600E running the test @ 702Mhz
128 Megs of RAM
SB Live!
ATI Radeon 64MB DDR
Drivers: 7089

Ran test @ 1024x768, 32 bit, everything cranked as high as it'd let me.

Min: 35.46
Max: 111.65
Avg: 60.30

Not too shabby. I suppose I could tweak things a bit and get a few more fps out of it but who cares. It looks great and runs smooth as buttah!

Ok had to test my system as well...

Spex:

PIII 750Mhz (no o/c)
512 MB SDRAM (133)
Voodoo5 5500
Creative Soundblaster Live 5.1 digital
ASUS 440BX Motherboard
56 GB HD
20" Goldstar monitor

Everything is turned on (3D sound and the lots...) and all settings are maxed and I run the game in 1024x768...

These were my numbers:
Min 42.17
Max 75.31
Average 59.88

Is that good? By the way... my monitor can only handle up to 75Hz... so I,m kind off stuck there...

Hi all,

V-Sync requires your video card to wait until the monitor refreshes (displays) the screen it has rendered before it draws a new one.
If disabling V-Sync speeds up your fps then you don't see the extra ones.
You can never see more FPS then your monitor will display. It may not hurt anything it just makes the video card work harder(=hotter).
The resolution you display determines the monitors max refresh rate. The bandwidth is constant.
If disabling V-Sync speeds up your fps and you can increase the refresh rate of the monitor then you will get more FPS and see them.
If you are using the correct driver for your monitor then optimal is the best setting.
*********DO NOT EXCEED THE SPEC FOR YOUR MONITOR*********
This is not the same as overclocking your M/B or video card where memory usually fails first with no permenant damage.
If you drive the monitor too hard YOU WILL DESTROY expensive high voltage parts in the monitor!

Refreshrate?

What What What???
I get more fps when i increase refreshrates?
is this correct?

I just checked my screen properties and i switched to 75Hz from "Optimal" dunno what this does but...
I hope this works for my "18fps" problems!
