Help! Whenever I try to put objects into a levelit just comes up with a preset block, cone cylinder, spiral staircase etc that I can't change the size of or anything like that. What's going on? And how do I put weapons in? In fact just what the hell is it with the UT editor?

Ok, well, it sounds like you are a beginner in UnrealEd. This is what you go to do. When you make a cone, a square, or any brush, it will come out as set default wise in the editor. To change their sizes, you have to right click on thebrush (the button that has the object you want to create) and select it's Properties. A small window will pop up and then you will be able to type in the new measurements in pixels. If you want to make an obect like a car, well you are just going to have to use the objects that they give you in the Editor. You could use, lets say about 4 squares to make a small car. If you want to tilt any brushes you make, they have a tool for that. You will know which one it is. But to move brushes, you will have to pres CTRL and keep it pressed while you move the brush to where you wnant. You can only move the brushes before you build them. And if you want to add weapons, then you are going to have to go to the Browser bar and click on the drop down menu that says Textures and then select Classes. Once you are in there, look for a word that says Inventory. Click once on the little minus sign next to it and a whole drop down list will come up. Then look for the word that says Weapons and then click on the little Minus sign next to it once. Then weapon names will come up. But dont use those, those are the Unreal weapons and not the Unreal Tournament weapons. If you use them you level you F*CK up. I tried it, trues me, sometimes it will work, but they won't respawn when you colloct it once. On the buttom of the weapon list, you will see "Tournamet Weapons" but without the quotes. Click on the minus sign and then the Unreal Tournament weapons will pop up. Click once on the weapon you want to use and sometimes a window will pop up with script and code. Don't worry about that, just close it. Once you have the weapon you want selected, right click the area you want to place the weapon in your level and a small window will pop up and in that window you will see "Add *****" and the * stands for the weapon you selected. Click it and you will see the weapon you selected added. That is it. And the only reason no one responded to your question is because it is a simple on to answer but a long proccess. You should maybe look up some tutorials before you ask a simple question like that. it will help you alot. That is what i did. you can find most things you need at http://www.unrealed.net
have fun!

What's' with it is that it's a complex editor that requires some specialized knowledge on the part of the user. Read some tutorials that can be found here:
http://www.unrealed.net http://unreal.gamedesign.net http://www.dukeed.com http://members.xoom.com/cinder

That should get you going and answer most newbie question as you work through them. I personally started off with Wollf's tuts (second url from top) and after many months of playing, I can now proudly proclaim that I know about 10% of UnrealEd /~unreal/ubb/html/wink.gif
