Holy fuck does he need to be killed now. In his movie he is going to make them be aliens from space. I seriously hate this guy.

http://entertainment.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/03/20/10777247-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-are-now-aliens

“When you see this movie, kids are going to believe, one day, that these turtles actually do exist when [we] are done with this movie," Bay said about his upcoming series reboot during a presentation at the Nickelodon upfronts. "These turtles are from an alien race and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely lovable."

"Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script," he wrote. "Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world."

TBH he might actually be able to pull something like this off, probably be a lot better than that other recent 3d version.

If you read the article, (which you clearly haven't) you would realize his plot would make as much sense as telling LOTR in the Star Wars universe with a very niggerish Frodo whom is unchallenged by anything on his quest. During battles he would effortlessly win and all while with a smug grin on his face.

his plot would make as much sense...

They are fucking humanoid turtles... that are ninjas... Does it really effing matter? All that matters is it being entertaining, probably mainly to children.

It's like when people say Transformers movies ruin their childhood memories or ruin the original interpretation, implying that the original was not already just some crappy ass children's cartoon anyways.

What's the problem? :p

I'm rather hoping that when Bay is using the term "Alien" he's using it in the same way that Americans refer to Mexicans as Aliens... Funny-looking do-gooders.

It's massively changing the context of the entire concept if the statement is accurate.

Some people actually want a TMNT movie to be done properly, to find out it's licence has been bought and it's being worked on by some guy that doesn't appear to have gone so far to work out what the people who actually want to movie want is bad times. To find out he's also re-conceptualising it so it's barely recognisable is just infuriating.

Why does it have to be TMNT if it's not going to honour the source material? Why can't anyone make something new anymore?

Easy - the amount of money involved in movies these days. Take an existing franchise or at least a proven concept, through lots of money, contemporary music and actors at it and you already break even (in most cases, anyway).

Make something new on the other hand - struggle to get funding and people's interest, lots of risks to run the whole thing aground right from the start...

Hence so many shit movies in the last 5 years.

Anyway, the comics I read as a kid and young teen ruled.

Good voice acting? No. I don't think so.

I think Guillermo Del Toro could pull off a really good comic-book inspired TMNT, but OTOH, who friggin cares anymore?

After raping Transformers and now setting his sights on TMNT I am sure Bay will go after Silver Hawks, Thunder Cats, M.A.S.K, and Dino-Riders for future movie explosion extravaganzas!

I am sure he wanted to GI-Joe but someone already fucked that up...
