For sure will be better than CoD 2 :) . But this version of RedOrchestra will be comercial product, not free ut2k4 mod (i think).

ZOMG! A RETAIL WWII FPS!

I hope it's as bad as the 'RO' mod was. Comparing that steaming pile to INF is an insult. As far as modding this game goes...

It's still based on the 'Warfare' engine, if that tells you anything.

And just out of curiosity...

The 'Steam' logo at the bottom of their page? How can they sell this over 'Steam' if it's built on the Unreal engine? Did I miss something?

Steam is only a content distribution tool, which is what Valve intended. Before RO, there were also contracts for non-Source based games to distribute online via Steam. Darwinia and one of those 4X games, Space Empires or some nonsense. The RO people won their Unreal license from Epic and are free to do whatever retail game they want with it.

I was under the impression that 'Introversion' used the 'Source' engine for 'Darwinia'.

What did they use then? An in-house engine?

I knew 'Steam' was a distrobution tool to cut out the publishers - but I thought it was only for people that used the engines 'VALVe' supplied.

That game is a blast. Excellent art direction. I bought it last night and have been playing it whenever I have free time. Brings me me back to the 'olden days' of gaming...

...where, you know - games were fun.

As far as 'RO' is concerned. Yes, I know all about how they won the contest, and can make a retail game with the engine, etc. etc.

The fact of the matter is: They are still working with the 'Warfare' engine, not 'Warfare 2.5'. So, 'Fog2K4' at it's best. Granted, they can optimize it more than a mod. However, it lacks many of the (much needed) capabilities provided through the 'Warfare 2.5' upgrade.

That 'Make Something Unreal' contest was simply Epic's way of clearing out their closet of a mediocre engine. Had they given away a license to 'Unreal Engine 3.0', that would've been more interesting.

On a side note, I can't wait for 'Alien Swarm'.
