Why does UT go soooooo slow???

i just got UT today and when i first played it i was getting some NASTY *** frame rate,
it was taking forever to precache and when the game did start it was MAD choppy and the game would stop for a bit whenever i picked up a new weapon..it was just horrible..
my specs are:
Celeron 400
128 sdram
velocity 4400 (TnT1 chipset)

the stupid setup didnt detect my 3D card so i just set it to openGL, by default it sets the world textures and player textures to HIGH,
i simply set both these to MEDIUM and this DRASTICALLY improved performance..
perhaps the guys who have similar problems to the one i had before should try the same thing..

When you start to get slow downs while in game just pull down the console and type "flush" and that will clear out a full cache plus this works for TNT folks that start to see texture coruption after playing for a period of time.
