I agree. Sometimes it's a real pain in the *ss to get Ued to do what you want, but it's also true that you feel sooo gooood when you're done, and especially when other ppl like it.
I got quite a good start, so I probably won't quit. Mapped reviewed my ctf level Damtoofar a feew days after I uploaded it to nalicity (how did they know??), and yesterday I got a mail from Realmaps that they wanna feature my Industrial Dm map in one of their upcoming levelpacks!
These two levels were my first and second Ut map ever! Most of the time my imagination is going crazy with ideas, but I must admit that I often have problems with simply filling up a large wall with some nice and simple decoration.
I think I know squatt of Ued, near to ziltch, but in the end I get it working, and most tricks are just combinations of simple actions.
And indeed, if someone tells you you don't have any imagination... nice friend by the way... screw'm.
Some tima ago now someone asked whether the maker of a level experiences the same amount of joy from his own level, as someone else would. I think as a mapper you enjoy it the most, cuz you also share in the joy others have. That makes you feel double great.
Mapping rules!
It never hurts to help ...
