And a triumphant howl rose up from the crowd! Borderlands 2 has finally been announced, and I am already DYING for it! The announcement showed up on a GameInformer promo site for an upcoming article revealing the game (thanks, Mozi) just before the press release dropped into my inbox. The game is set to release sometime between 4/1/2012 and 3/31/2013. I'm hoping it's closer to the former than the latter, myself.

Among other things, the game will include new player classes, new weapons, new environments to explore, and more. More of the game will be shown off at Gamescom and PAX Prime later this month. Personally, I am REALLY looking forward to more information and the game's release!

Press Release in the comment thread.

I have a few simple wishes for BRDRLNDS2:
- more interesting story
- a living world
- less shit colored world, maybe some other colors than brown (zombie island was a good start)

Top of my wishlist is a better multiplayer lobby and better feel for the controls.

The current way of starting a game feels really contrived, like they went out of their way to simplify it and just ended up ditching a bunch of useful features instead.

Requirements for B2:

1. More Awesomeness (study General Knoxx please)
2. More fast travel locations
3. Ditch Gamespy

Yes, and large open areas don't make for interesting combat zones. I don't really care at all for the vehicles...felt like they were crowbar-ed in.

I have not played anything but the Soldier class so far, but did the brute actually make the missile launchers feel powerful?

I'd be all over missile launchers that you used less often but had a greater lasting impact (slower refire, lower ammo, but BIGGER PUNCH!)
