Satore Monster pack

I keep hearing of the Satore Monster Pack for (retail) Invasion. Is this something that would be compatible with FHI and add variety to the monsters?
Has anyone tried it? How does it affect the gameplay.
I'm also concerned about having too many add-ons on the server that might scare people off, but I'd be willing to give it a try if I can setup a re-direct so it doesn't get downloaded directly from my server.

If anyone has any experience with mixing the Satore Monster pack with FHI I'd love to hear from you.

Any tricks to installing/configuring it? there is talk about a missing .ucl file on the Atari forums but I'm not sure yet what that means. Learning as I'm going along.
Also how can I determine if the uz.unlreadmin.com redirect server has the pack? (other than by having users bitch at me that they can't connect)

OK, one more question:

I don't want to force a client to download the satore monster pack if I run my server in DM mode for example, or even if the mutator itself is not enabled.

I assume that I should add the following lines to FHIMod.in i and not to ut2004.ini to get the desired result? I would expect this to only make the client downlaod the monster pack ifthey don;t already have it on and the server is running FHI and the SMP is enabled:

I'm just new at all of this and trying to learn as I go, and of course the Satore Monster pack didn't come with any instructions.

Ah, the Satore MP. That would be good, and finally at level 20 you fight titans, though only 3 titans are aloud to spawn at a time. Final Boss - King and Queen of FHInv? Queen is.. well, queen, really, and the king is teh t1t4nz0rz.

I think the first one is newer but I can;t swear to it. If you have the 3204 patch ther seems to be a problem where the .ucl file is not properly generated (I'm not sure what all that means but I had to do some research to get it working). you will need to copy the following to a file named 'satoreMonsterPack2004_v1b.ucl' (at least for the version I use)

To add it to FraHouse Invasion you will need to add that ucl file to the FHIMod\System directory.

That should be enough to try it in instant action. I had to perform a few more steps to install it on my server, and I'm still struggling with the redirect issues.

To truly take advantage of this you will have to manually edit the WaveMask entries in the [SkaarjPack.Invasion] section, or more easily set bUseSMPWaves to true in satoreMonsterPack.ini (or something like that) nad either use their default waves or design your own, it's pretty striaghtforward using the the SMPwave entries.

I'm looking for an invasion wave editor (doesn't have to be FHI or satore specific), if ther eisn;t one I might try and write one.

do you mean you can't get the downloads? both of them open a webpage that you can download from, they don't point to the file itself.
the first one openes a page in japanese (just cancel installation of the japanese anguage if it prompts you) and the monster pack is at the bottom of the page.
I just tried both of them and they both work for me.

This does in fact work well

:lol: I spent about 4 hours this morning editing the Satoremonsterpack.ini to get the wavetable correct and now we can frag to our hearts content in Fraghouse Invasion killing the Titans and Queens and sliths and also the giant gasbags. I also host UT2004RPG on this server so it makes for some interesting situations. I can be found usually with the server name of UT2004RPG Map Vote Stat Logging. Thanks for the help.

I didn't try adding the giant gasbags to my server because they weren't mentioned by Satore as working in UT2004 (although there was no mention of them not working either). I'll have to try your server soon.
Any words of advice for creating the "perfect" wave set to keep the game increasingly challenging and interesting? would you be willing to share your satoremonsterpack.ini?
Like I said in a previous post, there is supposed to be a new satore monster pack coming out real soon.

did you create a .ucl file like I explained in my post above?
did you put the .ucl in the <ut server root>/FHIMod/System directory? (not the <utserver root>/System directory)
I also force the mutator to be loaded at sartupt using ?mutator=satoreMonsterPack2004_v1b.mutsatoreMonsterPack on the server command line. This is what it looks like for my linux server, syntax on windows is very similar:

./ucc-bin server FHI-Tomb.ut2?gametype=FHI.FHI?mutator=satoreMonsterPack2004_v1b.mutsatoreMonsterPack?AdminName=FlakDaddy?AdminPassword=yourpasswordhere -mod=FHIMod log=server.log -nohomedir

I think that the satoreMonsterPack.ini actually goes in the <utserver root>/System directory instead of in the mod system directory but I'm not certain so I put it in both.

Hey guy don't give up

;) I think your getting frustrated for no reason...its not that hard. Remember a Linux system like papastrumpf's is a bit different from the windows ones. If you are NOT running the dedicated server version of UT2004 alot of this command line stuff will likely be new to you. The name of the executable file(the one that serves thew game) for windows is ucc.exe instead of the ucc-bin for Linux. This ucc.exe file is the name of the file for the dedicated server version and can be downloaded from the net for FREE. One hitch though, you have to get a free server key from unrealadmin.org (there are other places but this is where I got mine) NOTE: DO NOT put the new server CD KEY in the registry of a system that is running the RETAIL version of UT2004. If you do you will have to reload the game. It is best to have a computer dedicated to serving UT2004 to run the dedicated server version. If you want to run a server from the retail version of the game editing the necessary files and putting them in the proper places is just a matter of following papastrumpf's instructions above. I did it and it worked well. Good luck to you guy....Hang in there.

Looks like you can now download satore monster pack v1.04 here: http://bluepure.ddo.jp/OpenFile/UT2k4/Mutator/satoreMonsterPackVersion104.exe

I haven't tried it with FHI yet. No new monsters although all of the satore monsters now appear to work properly (in instant action at least), amd the queens appear to teleport, whcih they didn't do for me in the previous version. It looks like the monster config is different though, you can really tweak each monster individually as well as assign it a probability of appearing, etc...
I don't know what impact (if any) it will on on its compatibility with FHI, but it seemed to work in instant action.
I'll give it a try and tweak my waves to allow for the availabilit of all monsters. I'm happy to see the sniper skaaj working to add a challenge to the long distance fights.
If this version works, I will put it on my server as soon as there is a redirect available.

Are you trying to run a server or just use the monster pack in instant action?

for instant action all you need to do is copy satoreMonsterPack.ucl from c:\ut2004\System to c:\ut2004\FHIMod\System.
When you go into instant action there are tabs to select map, game rules, mutators, etc...
On the mutators tab, scroll down the list, hilight satore monster pack and click the add button. There is also a "configure mutators" button at the bottom that will let you access the mutator properties, in this case the wave setup.
