Funny. You could replace "republican" with "socialist party" or some other unpopular group and it would fit another country. It's never been pretty to tarnish the reputation of others in this way even if it appears to be justified. Making an informed choice is about being able to see the world from a neutral position.

SkaarjMaster, there's nothing wrong with socialism. It's up to a country to decide what degree of socialism it wants even if it's minimal. The problem is the way the system is implemented and how entrusting money to a minority can lead to abuse and corruption. It's elder cousin communism has suffered from similar problems. It's the lack of transparency towards citizens that really messes things up.

Note that capitalism is not without it's flaws. In fact the sort of capitalism practised now is all about big companies bullying markets and blackmailing governments with the objective of simply fleecing consumers for all the potential money that they can give. Offshore placements in fiscal paradises are shifting the burden of supporting the cost of a country to the common worker and making life hard on everyone and that includes people in the States.

"Because I don't feel I deserve health insurance."

Yeah, I know it's just rhetoric, but it's funny.

I don't understand why people are so against socialism when it's already a part of our country.

Social security, welfare, and the like are tax payers distributing their wealth around to everyone.

Okay, yes, it's costing us billions, and I'm pretty sure the baby boomers are f**king everyone over because they're getting old and senile and there's so many of them, but still.

So... Why are you bitching about more socialism when you should be bitching about the stuff that's already here. :)

Indeed but the point is that the same can be said for capitalism. It's just going to take longer to see the results of the major flaws it has.

Anyway socialism is just a fancy word for all the changes that have helped mister average get a fairer share of the pie instead of spending his life being parented by aristocrats. And one of its flaws is actually linked to way capitalism is heading today.

What's currently happening in socialist countries is that the system in place is becoming more and more difficult to sustain under the economic pressure exerted by the world markets and the middle class is getting poorer. Also, as I pointed out, even though the USA doesn't adhere to the socialist ideal there is a similar effect taking place in those regions that depend on industry or basic manufacture.

My step brother is very neo-con and includes me in all his right wing propaganda emails he sends out to friends and family. Most of the people on the list I have no idea who they are, but I replied to all on the last one he sent me and said I was finally convinced and voting republican and then linked to that page. :D I am sure to have plenty of hate mail by the morning. \o/

The idea behind socialism that people dislike is everyone benefiting off of those few who do the work. No one likes a moocher and there are a lot in this country. If socialistic systems are implemented there is a fear that even more people will just mooch. There is also a fear of more people trying to emigrate to this country to get 'free' stuff. Emigration is not a bad thing and the USA is built on emigration, but too much of it too fast is very bad because it strains the system.

Capitalism is a more idealistic system because those who do the work have a better chance of succeeding. They make their own way. Anyone can start their own business and implement an idea. If a person is lazy and doesn't work then they get nothing. Get off your butt and do something. Everyone has a chance.

Under socialism those who succeed and work the hardest get taxed to take care of those who don't work. Thats backwards.

There should be systems in place to take care of those who can't work. Thats where a little socialism can work great. Social Security is a good idea in theory but it has problems. No system is perfect.

However those who can work should work in my opinion.

Capitalism isn't perfect either as is demonstrated by how much large corporations control legislation and governments. But like I said no system is perfect. There should be measures to control how much large businesses can control the system.

I don't agree with certain things about Socialism and Capitalism. However I view Capitalism as the better system with more opportunity for all; the lesser of two evils if you will.

Well if this is the garbage some of you believe no wonder Bush is a two term president. Keep making fun and underestimating the republican party. I don't think democrats are idiots and while I'm an independent I have only voted republican so far. The difference is I listen to different points of view and go from there.

Keep labeling the republican party as a bunch of idiots and you will lose a third election. I'm saying this and I don't even know if I'm going to vote for McCain because I'm waiting for the debates. But if people who vote republican are stupid rednecks then what does that make some of you guys on the left. I think in this election people will reject negative campaigning and stupid garbage like this. Since Obama isn't negative he has a good chance. But this little vid was made for stupid people to eat up and not actually go out and research. Ask yourself if you think Obama thinks McCain is an idiot. I doubt Obama thinks that. Some of you need to get over your superiority complex.

And how exactly does the republican party cause more minorities to go to jail? Last time I checked an individual had to commit a crime. Wild leap in logic I know.
