Grrrrrrrr!

Maybe this subject touches me the wrong way!

But I was always told that honor, couarge and commitment come before dishonor. Being a Marine, I know that when I go into battle that I am there for my fellow commrades and country!

If I am going to be killed by the enemy then fine. But I am going to die saving my country and its people. Not be a Pus*sy and shot myself in the head! And I dont think this needs to be brought into INF. This game is real, and its fine with the direction its going in. But having an option where you shot yourself in the head? WTF does this do?

I dont mean to make this a personal thing, but I just see no point in it. And I agree with what other's have said, killing yourself is dishonorable and for the weak!

Well I definitely won't ramble on about two different points of view and about how everyone is entitled to believe what they want- society dictates what's honorable- ask the Japanese. What's to blame for violence in our society? Well, it's a kind of a natural circle fed by many things, not just one. So what am I getting at? Opinion's aside, animated graphical suicide has no tactical application in this project aside from psychological warfare and 90% of the things we do in this game, we do for a reason other than to look cool- that's just a byproduct. Anyway, discuss all you want, it ain't a-happenen' in Inf. :)

WizBiz, you probably are not a stoic.

A stoic believes that self control is the greatest human virtue. I, for example, can hold my hand in a pot of boiling water until my skin starts to blister without reacting to the pain. You would probably call that crazy, but it is that kind of self control that makes man better than animal. A stoic believes pain is to be endured because it makes you stronger.

Likewise, suicide is honorable because you have control over your death. Being killed by someone else means you had no control over your death.

It is really only our society that tries to portray suicide as an "escape". In ancient Rome (who, btw, were mostly stoics), would rather have control over their death. A good example is that Brutus and Cassius took their own lives when they were loosing the battle at Phillipi, rather than let their lives be taken from them. When Japan lost World War II, many leaders commited ritual suicide because it is considered honorable to die if you are responsible for dishonoring the rest of the nation. The idea that suicide is dishonorable is a very new idea.

I don't give a crap about this "honorable Disshonorable" crap but I do know that putting a gun to one's head and pulling it to get out of a round is not only sick but very uneccesary.

suicides

The only times I have suicided were immediately after particularly skillful TKs. Since, I don't normally carry grenades, and falling on your knife doesn't seem to work. I usually find a high spot on the map and hurl myself off of it...and occasionally repeat as necessary. I THINK you can suicide by typing suicide in the console, but I never think of that.

Rogue Leader:
I don't think 'funny' is the right word to be used with suicide..

I don't think we need any suicide option in INF, and sure no animated one; most soldiers die by enemy or friendly fire, but not by own hand. Suicide only is an option in the military, when you could be captured and tortured, not just because you don't think the enemy should kill you.
I guess before getting captured and tortured(maybe getting my guts cut out or so..) I also would commit suicide, but just because I might be killed by the enemy?

I thank Warren that such things have no place in INF.

Snakeye :D

anything you do can get you killed, including doing nothing
