The Register has it that the passwords were hashed but unsalted (I prefer butter myself): http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/06...password_leak/

Those passwords really should be SALTed. Hell, even we use SALTed auth.

Yeah a small little shop but he isn't hiring at the moment. I only know this because I happened to meet him at a spicecorps meetup. I am mainly looking in the KC area or perhaps even Lawrence.

I downloaded the password hashes yesterday (with a bit of searching), my password hash wasn't among them, but I changed it anyway. There even were passwords like "nicholascage" "myeyes" "thebees" "burned" and such, lol, tried it on these words.

Well looks like "Leakedin" finally confirmed the hack. Also the same Russian apparently hit the e-harmony website and stole around 1.5 million passwords in the process.
