Why is the field of view so narrow?

Its just how NASA is choosing to take photos for this mission. The camera on the mission are designed more for technical and scientific reason's than just taking regular pictures.

Digging up ground and analyising it is the purpose of the mission so they want to have as much of the foreground in the picture as possible. They don't really need to see the sky so much.

Eventually they are going to do a whole 360 panarama, composed from all these narrow FOV shots :D
