The use of UT voice in INF...

I'll be brief... next time I hear one using UT voice taunts, I'll leave. And if I ever hear one on a server where I am admin (which should be the case soon enough), anyone using those voice will be kicked (or even banned if i'm in a bad mood).

I don't get it... why those things are still approved and even supported by a part of the community completly eludes me!... some days I really feel this community is better divised then not...

The problem is, that someone with a bad Infiltration.ini/****ed up INF installation will probably have this voice unintentionaly.

Hmm yes its very real that a everyone has exactly the same voice, so the usage of other voices improves realism - so whats wrong with that?
If nobody spams permanently with voice i dont have any problem with that.

Actually, the problem is that some kiddies think it's cool and leet to spam UT voices and therefore messes up their .INI on purpose.

And I totally agree with Geo. For me, gaming is just as much about the "feeling" and mindset of the game as it is about running around shooting at other players. Hearing those UT commands ruins much of that feeling. But then again, I'm old and grey and far from as leet as the cool kiddies that use the UT commands.

Maybe someone should make a voicepack where "OMGWTF!!!11" and OMG HEADSHOT!!! LOLOLOLZ!!". is just a few of the cool voice commands you can use. That would be SOOO cool!!! LOLOLOL!!!11

Not only that, thanks to the work of some community members we have a lot of different voices to choose from, without the need to resort to UT voices...

My conclusion is that it's officially supported (and even encouraged to some extent) by the DBD clan and their server admins.

If it is not, well they'd better stop acting like it is.

Anyone can use UT voices - it's nothing special, only something that makes you look really stupid.

That's where I disagree, Geo. It's just a few players, but when they are on the servers it's very noticable. I don't think one should go after a whole clan because of just one or a few players.

I personally can barely tolerate the normal human UT voices, if not spammed over and over, but that goddamn robot voice really REALLY pissed me off. And the response I got from InfernalRage the person using it was basically a **** you and have a nice day. I was using a psuedoname so I could have been a noob, and he disrespected me greatly. I thought Shan said he would only tolerate normal human UT voices not robot ones. I dont remember if he was online at the time, but now he knows if he reads this. He will have to decide how to deal with InfernalRage. I also wont stay around long if the robot voice is used, or if the normal UT human voice is spammed over and over every round. Also NO UT voices AT ALL will be tolerated on GD server. We worked too hard and long on the first voice pack for people to have options for some kid to resort to UT voices.

On a side note, a new voicepack will be coming out soon with 4 or 5 new english voices to choose from. So be patient even more variety is coming soon.

Also this is not an "attack" or singling out the DBD clan, just one of its members InfernalRage who has pissed me off before also with the attitude of an 11 year old.

EDIT: I have to say that I didn't want to mention Shan here. I think he is doing a wonderfull job with his servers, and I wouldn't want to do anything agaisn't him. But the fact is that he stated on another forum _here_ that he accepted it, but asked not to use too unreal ones (like the robot voice that was used yesterday).

I think his decision to allow UT voices on his servers is right in line with the rest of his decisions: TDM > EAS, other stupid voicepacks (that 'kid' one that makes me want to vomit every time I hear it), and the number of kills scoreboard.

Of course, any changes that might be made must be made by shan, since he's hoofin the bill for his servers. I think it would show quite a bit of respect to the infiltration community if he cleaned things up, dropped TDM, and put up a good spec server.

Shan has been and is one of the few true backbones for Infiltration, not only for the community, but also for the team. I have nothing but respect for someone who commits the amount of resources he does to something which doesn't generate anything but expences. I think I've said it before, but I'll say it again; let's not bite off the hand that feeds us.

Agreed with Almost. On every point

The problem lies with the apparant lack of Shans understanding of how this community was expected to run for so many years before he came. We were all united in keeping INF "clean" per se. Those who did not like it had to adapt even further when 2.9 was released or leave. Some of the things not tolerated ever by any admin was ghosting, TKing, and obviously UT voices. I dont see Shan taking a strong stance against any of these. This of course led to the irateness of many community old timers. I do think if Shan refused to allow any UT voices or ghosting on his servers, especially when his own members are some of the perps, it would ease alot of tension on TDM and stop this stupid rift developing. Shan is a great provider but in many ways he is TOO good hearted. He needs to take a stand against this **** and realize not everyone is gonna like him which is what I think he is trying to arrive at.
