False.

One third of India speaks English as does Nigeria; between those two the US is outnumbered already ;)

A fair bit of Africa uses English as a primary language.

Sorry, but...

To "use" a language does not correlate with it being the mother or native language.

The US is far and away the largest concentration of English native speakers.

So what you're saying is that the US should be defining how to use "proper" Spanish and not English :goshen:

I'm talking about native speakers. Many people grow up bilingual (or even trilingual), having a family language and the language they are educated in. In Nigeria as an example that would be something like Hausa / Yoruba and English.

The argument is that the US constitutes the largest number of native English speakers and it does by a significant majority.

The smaller countries where English is a native language is pale in comparison to the big 6 and all fall before the US with about 60%.

Now, 'native' speakers from countries where English has been declared an 'official language', sure that map looks different but is not specifically the topic at hand.
