actually, differentiating korean from japanese is rather quite simple. the korean alphabet has a lot of circles and 'hats' (e.g. ^ ) in their characters while the japanese kanji tend to be more abrupt with more straight lines. Chinese is just the ultra-hard version of both
The Koreans use an entirely different alphabet that is only based on the Chinese characters, and only in Taiwan do they still use the original uber-complex Chinese characters.
