Yeah, checked there just after posting, it's about £17 I think. I'm really interested now, but I've also been reccommended Toca Race Driver 2, which is £2 cheaper. I can't really justify buying 2 more games at the moment (heck I can hardly justify one to myself, other than I'm bored), so is there anyone here who's played both and can give any advice?

Well, I haven't really played TRD2 but I think it is a safe bet to say that RBR is more realistic and more challenging. I suspect TRD2 has too many classes, too short races and is quite arcadish. But all comes down to what your cup of tea is. I'd skim through http://forum.rscnet.org/ to get more opinions on both games. You do need a steering wheel to get the most of either games, and in RBR the MS FF wheel works like a dream. Remember some toca game sucked donkey balls when it came to stearing wheel support and ff..

Actually, this sums things up pretty well for TRD2: http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.php?t=160430
(mind you, I have no experience about the game as TRD was such a dissapointment that I never even considered the 2 one...)

Yeah, I thought it might be quite arcadish, even if the vehicle models are well-done. What attracted me was the range of driving styles offered, but for the most realistic experience I'd expect to be a more specialised one i.e. RBR. I'll look at getting a wheel, but I might give it a go without as I'm lacking in desk space already ;).

Thats called overcorrecting, as a result of understeering. Your wheels didn't have enough grip.

There are 3 things you can do:
-Brake immediately before the crucial moment in a turn with your LEFT foot, to shift the momentum of your car to the front, thus giving you more grip.
-Simply letting off the gas for the entire turn has the same effect as above.
-If you're feeling really lucky, handbrake.

However, if you don't overcorrect like that, you will see that the car will eventually straighten itself out, if you just leave the wheel in the center.

I appreciate the advice, truly, but I know how to drive :p. The problem is that I can take your excellent advice while using the first person camera and do semi-fantastic, but the second I change to a third person camera, I'm all over the place.

I can't beat the advanced final stage...freakin' A it's hard.

I do what I think is a flawless run, and I'm still something like 3 seconds over the target time. Grrr...

I must have spent something close to 2-3 hours on that stage. My personal best is 1:21:62 now. I noticed that once I got more confident in entering the curves side first I was able to shave off a few seconds. But it takes time, this game is really hard. I keep on screwing up my racing in the season part, having to taking it over and over again...

I know what you mean. But for some reason, that is why I like this game; it is so hard, even just finishing a stage is an incredibly rewardng experience.

Yeah but unless games are difficult because of realism (or at least something resembling it), they just piss me off.

Doom 3 without quick saves = Approx gets aneurism.

I don't want to turn my off-topic quip into a highjack, so I'll reply in the Doom3 demo thread.

@FTU: Alright.

I have 2 problems with this game.

On all the Australian levels I have played so far, it'll started stuttering, like it skips a frame or ten every second. I haven't noticed this with any of the other levels, yet.

Also, I never have gotten it to work right with my 5.1 speakers. I get output from the sub, left and right fronts, and the center, but nothing from the left or right rears. The speakers have worked with every other game I play, so I know its all plugged in correctly. Any ideas?

Agree completely on the difficulty part. I enjoy this game a lot just because it is so freaking hard :) Hard in a good way..

I downloaded something called brb_mod_104.zip that had some EAX ddl's in it...that might fix the sound issue. Just only got to the USA race so dunno about the Australian one. I have had a couple of times some stuttering but always thought it was something to do with the stuff I had running in background...

I have the same problem, but i thought it was a problem with my FX5700LE. It happens randomly, sometimes on the simplest of maps (not just australia), its only video skipping (audio is fine), and it skips every 1-2 seconds for me.

Hmph, I would consider getting one if they didn't cost £80+ over here. Anyone have any suggestions as to a decent budget one? I tend to favour Saitek, but I'm open for suggestions.

On a related note... just downloaded the demo, started the install... and it's corrupt. Guess I'll just wait until the full thing arrives.
