SERIOUS déjà vu, anyone?

http://www.apple.com/trailers/miramax/hero/

Directed by Quentin Tarantino, this film is about a swordsman who is on an epic quest for revenge. On the way, he must take out the empire's "most ruthless assassins to reach the enemy he has sworn to defeat."

Does this remind anyone of another film with an IDENTICAL plot?!

Directed by Quentin Tarantino
Nope, sorry...

He is the producer, just like he was in Iron Monkey. If he was the director, the hubub surrounding that movie would be 20x what it is now.

Oh. When it said "Quentin Tarantino presents", I just naturally assumed he directed it

Well, I think it's still worth pondering over. All that was going through my mind as I watched the trailer was, "my god, the plot is IDENTICAL to that of Kill Bill!"

I think the whole point of Kill Bill was that it was supposed to be like every other Japanese revenge film...

I saw that movie in its original language ages ago. Quentin Tarantino is doing little more than providing financial funding for shipping the material from China to the States and paying for dubbing services.

As far as movies go, I didn't like it. Was more fun to watch than this summer's Troy though.

I hear he's going to make Kill Bill 3 in 15 years, starring some kid from the second one, or something.... Yeah, I haven't seen either of them.

Yeah... i've seen the movie like 2 years ago. It's very nice and an impressive movie. And no, it's not deja vue... that movie is like nothing else i've seen. The style is similar to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, but it's still unique from my knowledge.

It has nothing to do, not even slightly, with kill bill. Get that out of your head right now.

Anyway, I recommand the original chinese version... with any translation you'll lose a lot of the mood.

The plot seems very similar though. Swordswoman (man, in this case) on a mission of revenge, taking out a number of very talented assassins along the way. Is it much deeper than that?

Anyway it's older than Kill Bill so what's your point?

Hero is a pretty good movie. Artistic in its way and not just "action". I loved it.

You, sir, are correct.

She'll raise Nikki, who'll take on The Bride," he says. "Nikki deserves her revenge every bit as much as The Bride deserved hers. I might even shoot a couple of scenes for it now so I can get the actresses while they're this age."
Who knows if it will happen.

Maverick director Quentin Tarantino is planning an animated prequel to his Kill Bill movies - to show the early life of the deadly assassin. The film will be drawn in the Japanese manga style already seen in Kill Bill Volume 1 and will focus on the three men - pimp Estebian Vihaio and martial arts masters Hattori Hanzo and Pei Mai - who turned Bill into a ruthless killer. The Oscar-winning writer and director will write and produce the film. Tarantino has also speculated that he could return to Kill Bill's world in 15 years time to follow the daughter of a character killed in the first film. The popular filmmaker - who took five years off after directing Jackie Brown to return to the screen with the violent revenge saga - is next set to direct a segment of Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's comic book adaptation Sin City.
And to wrap it up,

I loved Troy, so that movie will probably own me.

But still, I you watch the movie, you'll see that the story is nowhere close to Kill Bill, even with that little ressemblance in the plot.

BTW, I also like Troy. I think it was a pretty good movie and, as usual, Petersen did a great job.

Hero was a lot better than the usual action movies. The bad guy has a motive too, beyond killing people for fun.
