Good free family friendly online games?
I have a girlfriend who lives about 60 miles away and across a border, so I only get to see her about once a week. She has a 9 year old son. All three of us like playing games (we usually get in a couple hours of Brawl every time I visit).
I've been trying to figure out what would be a good online game to play together, so we can "hang out" so to speak for a couple hours one or two nights during the week without anybody having to drive long distances. I'm thinking something of the RPG, strategy, or puzzle variety would be optimal. Any of you have a family that you play online with? Have any game recommendations? Thanks in advance.

LittleBig Planet. Though I don't have a family to play online with (I have a family, but not one that plays video games), that would be my recommendation.
Of course, if you don't have a PS3... I wouldn't get one just for Little Big Planet, and get one twice.

There's a Brawl like Ninja Turtle game coming out for the Wii.

If you want to avoid gore just get the German versions of your favorite games.

Yeah, forgot to mention, can't be a console game.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I don't necessarily want something totally sanitized and kiddified, just no gratuitous sex or violence and preferably a community that acts like human beings for the most part. Going to investigate Maple Story, Runescape, and Runes of Magic. They're not too grind-tastic, right?

Pirate Diablo. The sex and violence are pixelated. Anyways I was playing it when I was like 8.
![]() Or use the netplay option on one of the Snes emulators and get SOM2 or something. Too old school for y'all? Last edited by SleepyHe4d; 16th Sep 2009 at 08:12 PM. |

Fusion Fall.
http://www.fusionfall.com/ It's free to an extent. I've been playing for awhile, and you only have to buy anything (once it's like $10 IIRC) to actually get more stuff. But you can still play and do quests for free. Might be worth checking out. |

Most SNES games aren't the greatest for multiplayer either, especially 3-way. But I do like your idea. Seiken Densetsu 3 is a great game.

Dbl post: was checking out those games. Basically all of them are freemium. Meaning I will have a 9 year old begging me to buy him a subscription as soon as he maxes out the actually free capabilities of the game. There is a damn good reason those types of games are marketed towards kids, and that is it.
C'mon guys.

Hmmm.. what about non-free singleplayer games with good co-op? I see Freedom Force is cheap on Steam... anybody ever play that co-op?
edit: ooooh, Disciples II Gold.
