Making levels

I've just bought Unreal Tournament last week. I've nearly finished it and I want to start making levels. But when I went in the level editor it wasn't very user friendly. Any help?

I'd really like to start making short mods. But I think its best to start off with a few small levels before I throw myself into the fray.

Please don't use to much jargon as I'm kinda of new to computers and stuff. I mean I had one before, but it was slow, old and so **** I hardly ever used it. It couldn't even run Unreal!
