Barret M82a1 commentary
First of all i happen to OWN a Barret m82a1
Rifle for those of you who dont know what one is its a Bolt action 50 cal rifle with a 7 shot clip and a monster recoil system biuilt into the barrel its one of only 4 ultra power rifles able to be carried and be fired by a Man without a special station I am a member of the Us 50 cal club best effective range on the rifle and i mean 100% accurate range is 950m but you can hit 1800m with some luck I was in the us army as a m1 tank commander i saw and witnessed our sniper crews take out scuds at 1600M ranges the few 100 shows i saw about the scuds were about the bombing raids the snipers were never mentioned and i happen to have about 400 videos on the gulf war and not one mentions our Ranger sniper crews btw you can purchase a barret m82 or its other models for about 8-10 grand US for the rifle that doesnt include the 2 grand kit to keep it functioning anyhow a Barret would rock in Unreal T only problem is its Muzzle velocity would make it 2 times more effective than a Robar since the robar uses modified rifle ammo the Barret uses Standard 50 cal army shells major diff I think the Infiltration wizards and anyone who loves weapons needs to pick up Jane's Rifle and handgun book it has 100s of awesome weapons for infiltration 4 |

Re: Barret M82a1 commentary
The M82A1 is a bolt action??? Uhm...are you absolutely SURE that it's not a Model 95 you're talking about? I carried the M21, the M24, the M82A1, and the A2 at different times during my stint in the green machine.
For even more info(including movies!) check out the newly re-opened Barrett Homepage. http://www.barrettrifles.com/ ------------------ Adam C. ------- Crack, Thud..................... ......................... ............Bang |

Re: Barret M82a1 commentary
He's right, the M82A1 is semi-auto, the M95 is the bolt-action. I don't think they could even be confused, the 95 is has a slimmer bullpup design and has half the clip capacity of the M82A1 (5 instead of 10).

Re: Barret M82a1 commentary
ThunderbirdX, I call your bluff on this. You most certainly do NOT own an M82A1, you have no idea what you're talking about. Tank commander in the Gulf War, huh? Geez, I'd hope the U.S. military has better judgement than to hire someone as uneducated as you. Ever hear of a period? And what's this BS about using "modified rifle ammo"? Get a clue man, there are those of us here who eat, sleep, and breathe guns. You're WAY out of your league here. Redeem yourself somewhat by providing the name and URL to this "US 50 cal club".
For the record, the Barrett M82A1 is a short-recoil operated semiautomatic rifle firing the 12.7x99mm (.50 BMG) cartridge. It is 57 inches long, weighs 28.5 lbs, has a 29 inch barrel, and features a 10-round detachable box magazine and a 10X scope. Firing M33 ball, muzzle velocity is said to be 2800 fps. Its largest user in the United States military is EOD teams (explosive ordnance demolition), employing some 170 of these rifles. Sorry for the rant guys, but I can't stand it when some know-it-all starts spouting blatant BS when they should know better. ------------------ Gryphon/JTF2 Striving for Excellence in Small Arms Data =JTF2= Infiltration Server Info |

Re: Barret M82a1 commentary
*begin rant*
I had been staying out this since the usual crew appeared to have it well in hand, but now I'm well and truly ticked off. 1.Now I'm no front line combatant like ShakKen or Hodag, I was a GarriTrooper supporting first the 82nd ABN (DISCOM) and then the 2nd BN 75th Inf Rgt (RGR). But I worked with a number of troops who thought that it would be cool to prop themselves as 18 series(SF) instead of the 76Y supply guys that they were. When they went out on the town. Now that's okay if all you're trying to do is score a date, however if somebody asked one of these guys a question, expecting to use their "knowledge" in a relatively important fashion, and acted on the info these "experts" provided, they could be in a world of hurt. In addition, the real long-haired boys don't take kindly to people poaching on their turf. 2.I own 15 rifles, 9 shotguns, and 41 handguns. If asked I can name them all. In my workshop currently I have another 16 rifles, 8 submachineguns, 64 handguns, 12 shotguns, 2 Tear Gas Launchers and a WWII AA gun that I'm restoring for a Militaria collector. I can name them all too. 3.Gryphon maintains a couple of firearms websites. They happen to have excellent ACCURATE data. I would trust Gryphon's data over your babbling. 4.Just because you like hearing your drivel read back to you with text to speech, doesn't mean anybody else does. As a TC, you would have had to write reports which were clear and coomprehensible and used periods and capital letters. Come on you're not trance channelling e.e.cummings now, are you? I consider myself a rifle nut and I think you are a complete and total moron. -------- SEZ Jon *end rant* [This message has been edited by Repairman_Jack (edited 02-10-2000).] |

Re: Barret M82a1 commentary
Don't step up if you can't back your data up.
This is what I love about this forum... the typical keyboard hero is shut down by superior data, presented coherently. |

Re: Barret M82a1 commentary
I work on a lot of Glocks, so I've never had the urge to go out and get one for myself. I like revolvers and older design semi-autos better anyway, and like I said, I'm a sucker for Browning knockoffs I'm also very fond of .375 H&H Magnum. In my opinion it is probably the most effective light-heavy rifle caliber out there, really sweet ballistics too.

Re: Barret M82a1 commentary
fair enough=)
A couple of days ago I had the chance to try out a compensated Colt Delta Elite. DAMN that's one impressive gun! With dual porting, Recoil wasnt much more than a 200 grain .45 load. Best 1911 i've fired yet. |
