The video of the control room when confirmation was received was a joy to see - the relief was palpable on everyone's face.

So... did you watch it live?

I did, btw. Though I had to use CNN after my bandwidth collapsed. Sadly none of the German news stations felt obligated to broadcast this big event live. And those CNN reporters seemed quite clueless.

In a week or so we will get higher res images and in colour when NASA had enough time forging them in photoshop.

I just noticed that in the US it was still Neil Armstrong's birthday when Curiosity landed on Mars. That's a nice birthday present.
