I am not sure how many years they put into the development of Gears engine and the prototype so I start the timing from when Gears 1 was released.

Well, using that logic then surely they developed and released two Gears in six years, right?

Surely you mean four

2007 - Gears 1
2008 - Gears PC
2009 - Gears 2
2011 - Gears 3

Gears came out in 2006 and Gears PC doesn't count because it's one of the most horrific port jobs of recent years I've encountered.

LOL a few days ago they blamed piracy for their stupid-crapola-port Bulletstorm sequel and now they want to make a PC exclusive... Can't help but to quote myself

You make a good point. But I still say 4 (2006-2012 = 6 years).

You have to acount for the fact that Gears started off as Unreal Warfare too, so it was like totally different game, that retained some themes over. Actual Gears didn't start in developement until like around 2005 afaik.

Romero has his own half-baked scheme to deal with.

New companies show up to take a bite of the SciFi FPS cake while Epic is standing beside doing nothing to take care of their UT IP.

Id like to see Epic make a statement that UT is THE game when it comes to SciFi FPS games by trimming the game and adding it to Steam as a F2P game just like TF2.

I played the PC version at PAX East and it felt pretty good in the 5-10 minutes I spent with it.

Looks more like they've scarfed down the whole cake to me.

That's probably the best looking game ever to come out of China. Shame it had to have all the hallmarks of generic western bullet+monster shooter, but it could still be interesting

I doubt that it is anything Unreal related.
