Support this event, it is very important, they want to take control of the internet and block sites as they like.

It's time to ****ing stand up.

I really don't understand the purpose of this event. How is taking your site offline for 12 hours going to show Congress anything?

They will hear about it, when most of the major sites go dark. It is a protest.

Except most of the major sites aren't and won't go dark.

That list is not the definite. Wikipedia will most probably go to that protest too, I have heard about it. And everyone uses wikipedia, these days so it's really major. and gog.com goes too.

Besides this is the more full list(although its less definite, as it seems to include just the suggestions, they don't have it sorted well there):
http://www.sopastrike.com/on-strike/

You want to say that's not enough? lol

You better join the strike too.

Or it will be leotck strikes again I guess...

Quote:
To: English Wikipedia Readers and Community
From: Sue Gardner, Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director
Date: January 16, 2012

Today, the Wikipedia community announced its decision to black out the English-language Wikipedia for 24 hours, worldwide, beginning at 05:00 UTC on Wednesday, January 18 (you can read the statement from the Wikimedia Foundation here). The blackout is a protest against proposed legislation in the United States—the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the U.S. House of Representatives, and the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA) in the U.S. Senate—that, if passed, would seriously damage the free and open Internet, including Wikipedia.

I don't see any reason for BU to go on black-out.
However, I did sign the petition.

All of them, and they have been doing so for a while. You just get a 'URL not found' page. Talk-Talk recently got caught out for blocking various Torrent sites.

You got bigger problems, a judge in Westminster said a resident could be extradited to the US to face piracy charges

I've never had a problem with torrent sites and I'm with talk talk.

The extradition laws in this country are screwy. Politicians keep promising to change them but everyone knows just how much a politician's promise is worth.

Just fill out the form on google and tell the government to go **** themselves...and to go to work on real problems instead of censoring the net. https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/

Already signed. Just saw today that SOPA was indeed not shelved. Guess we will find out on the 24th if the internet will have a collective explosion occur.
