Question INI files for WAR maps?

Why do some custom WAR maps have two INI files? It seems one goes in CustomMaps and the other goes in Config.

That shouldn't be necessary. Take a look inside them to figure out why the author has a different opinion on that.

One contains alternate Link Setups and belongs into \UTGame\Config in your MyGames folder.

The other one is for the preview pic, description and so on.

Why do they need to be in separate INIs?

Because that's the way the game works.

As bi0 said one will contain optional link setups (the default link setup is saved into the map file) Any extras are in .ini files for /config. This also allows you to add custom link setups to pre-existing maps without any map editing, just some ini hax.

And the other is your default .ini file that comes with every other map for preview pic/player count/author/etc

Cool

Thanks. I believe only two custom WAR maps I've installed so far have this, but I may check my other zips to make sure I didn't miss anything with maps I installed before last month.

I believe if a server is running the link setup it'll be playable without a download. Sure i read that somewhere. If not it'll probably just get downloaded into cache or something.

You don't download any inis. So if you extract the map from the cache, you won't get neither additional link setups nor map preview pic/author/playercount.
