As for the Manta, you can use right-click to descend. Personally, I try to stay out of the Raptor because it's so vulnerable. You can't get very far before you have an AVRiL chasing you down. I like the Scorpion. Just something about it that's fun, even though someone with a shock rifle can completely stop you because that gun transfers too much momentum.
