I will qualify my question with the fact that, yes, I am a UT newbie. I have been playing Q2 for quite a while, and loved the aliases and such that I could use for team talks, weapon selections etc. Is there any such convention in UT? I want to get my configuration all pimped up!

Got to the in game console (tilde key (~) and type "preferences". This will get you into advanced options. Thats where you can set the key bindings and aliases.

does it have to be done in the game - or is it possible to open up the config file and alter it in wordpad? And are there any resources for customizing configurations?

Edit the User.ini file found in the UT\system folder. You'll have to surf to find config info. Don't expect to find a wealth of info like there is for QuakeII. Most good players keep their configs to themselves.

You can use the speech binder (Options | Preferences | Input tab) to bind taunts and team commands to keys.

The key bindings and aliases can't be quite as complex as in Q2. And there is no wait command, but this prevents people from being able to automate things like the combo, which would be considered a cheat of sorts.

Here are some aliases i grabbed in the gt-forum:

I' ve binded space to this alias:
Getweapon translocator | onrelease altfire | onrelease switchtobestweapon

All you have to do is hit space and hold, fire the TL disk where you want it (if you haven't allready placed it somewhere) and release space. Gives me super-fast teleports and I'm ready to fire right afterwards.

The best alias for Hammerjumping would be:
Getweapon Impacthammer | onrelease fire | onrelease jump | onrelease switchtobestweapon

Bind that alias to a key, hold down that key, look down on the floor (by yourself) and release the key and you will hammerjump backwards. Afterwards you will switch to your best weapon (previous weapon isn't possible).

Kudos to the suplier! (don't remember) but there is so spare info about aliases that i'm happy about each tip.

Berserk.[$FCE2] - You RULE!! I knew how to edit the Advanced options and .ini, but wasn't sure how to bind multiple commands. Thanks a bunch - now hide this post so no one else can find out!! heh..heh

I am bringing this back to the top - I have gotten some help from some folks in the Unreal community. If everyone helps eachother out then we can all learn, I will be messing around with this stuff, If i get anything important I will post (not keep it a big secret!).

I know this is an old thread and there may be newer threads on this topic, but I'm still searching through the forum. I thought I would go ahead and reply to this since some may find it helpful. Here is a site that I had found a long time ago that has a bunch of info on creating aliases and such:
http://frenchfragfactory.net/ressour...taliases.shtml

Enjoy!

LOL, spyder! Yes, I have this uncanny ability to read what's on the screen in front of me.

Well, I did a bunch more searching and dug up a bunch more resources for keybindings and such. Most of these links were taken from the UT ©LEANED site. I hope these help!
