With the Make Something Unreal contest at hand, we're starting to see all sorts of stunning work show up. One of the most impressive models I've seen lately has to be IanW's Exoslave Model.
It is finished and its pretty tricked too, with original animation, custom karma, optional custom species and customised death skeleton, teamskins and particle effects etc.
But having basically 2 figures in one model comes at a cost, 4578 polies, 2x1024x1024 24 bit textures and a 256x256 shader. Though my tests indicate no noticeable drop in performance compared with the standard UT2003 models (which range from 2100 to about 3400 polies and 2x1024x1024 textures).
If you're a skinner, you can also pick up a Skin Development Kit for the model containing: BMP grey scale and wires for the rider and the exo, and MAX and .3DS versions of the model
