I was just wondering how many DIVERSIONS you have played since UT has come out. UT is the game I always compare other games too plus I always come back to UT.
Here is my list of games that have come and gone.

Unreal includes NA PALI
Half-Life includes Opposing Force Episode
SIN
QUAKE II & III
Soldier of Fortune
MDK2
Thief the Dark Project
DESCENT 3
Hoyle Casino
LINKS 99
MAX PAYNE
Return to Castle Wolfenstein (Currently Playing)

Probably a few more and not counting real old PC Games that I use to play in DOS Mode.

Anyone want to buy old games LOL....:D

Help me, I'm addicted!

Probably, 95% or more of my gaming since 6-4-2000 (UT installed) has been with UT. But since then other game play has been:
- finished Heretic II
- finished Quake II: MissionPack2-Ground Zero
- finished Sin, Outlaws, Soldier Of Fortune, Recoil, Shadow Warrior
- started Quake3: Arena
- started Driver, Flying Heroes, Grim Fandango, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Midtown Madness 2, Odium, Powerslide, Redline Racer, Demolition Racer, Speed Busters, South Park, System Shock 2, Test Drive 6, Wipeout XL
- installed but haven't even started Metal Gear Solid!!!

Anticipated Christmas games acquired: Aliens Vs. The Predator 2 and Return To Castle Wolfenstein. Not that I really deserve either one. Still have to play AvsP1 as the Alien (damn limited save game feature).

One final comment: If they don't hurry up and finish Duke Nukem Forever, it's going to get the same "warm" receiption that Daikatana got!

Duke Nukem Forever was announced like three months after Unreal's release (early 1998)! Honestly, I'm not even looking forward to it anymore.

Wow. And I thought I was really addicted. Aside from UT, I just have Quake 2, Unreal Gold, and Deus Ex. I've been through all of them several times (well, I've only beaten UT once), but I just keep coming back to Deus Ex for some reason. I mostly play Deus Ex, but I hang out more with the Unreal community (I split time equally between Unreal Gold and UT).

I have the demo for Deus Ex, need to finish it. Probably won't get the game though; I still have to finish System Shock 2 and Metal Gear Solid.

I still play a UT a lot more, if only 'cause other games are either too short or just suck.
This is my list of what I went through since getting UT:

SimCity 300 Unlimited - Too damn hard.
Unreal Gold - Finished.
MechWarrior 4: Vengance - Ok until I hit the Urban maps. Then it made me appreciate UT's bots even more.
Escape from Monkey Island - Lousy controls.
The Longest Journey - Finished. Great game. A bit on the talkative side.
Undying - Great graphics. Great story. Lousy weapons. Lousy spells. Too many damn howlers.
MechWarrior 4: Black Knight - Going thru it now. Better missions than Vengance. Still stupid AI, though.

He Who Has Powerful Words
Oh yeah, I had Doom 2 for a little while, but I hated the fact that I couldn't customize the controls. As a result, I sold it to a friend the next day.

I have the demo for Undying. Justin, is it a game that has a future? For example, are there any custom maps for it, or even an Editing community at all? I'm thinking about getting it, especially if it hits the budget rack at Hastings (after all, that's how I found Unreal Gold).

The MechWarrior demos never ran or never ran well on my computer, so I never messed with them; I have Shogo though.

No game can measure up to the intensity of UT!

I think this might take the addicted cake.
I have an 8 gig drive with one game, U/T.
Rather than risk messing it up I bought a 40 gig and reinstalled my removable drive caddy to switch drives so I could load some other games.
It would be a backup U/T drive too!
That was a month ago and I still can't stop playing U/T long enough to load some other game.
I'm really going to try soon though, I am!

Other games I have liked:
BattleZone- tons of fun and I think still better than BZ2
Thief- I had to stop playing, too tense sneaking arround but a great game.
Porsche Unleashed- add a logitech FF wheel and it's just too real on or off line!
Combat Flight Sims- easy, fun, and built for a FF joystick.

Have fun all :)

SkaarjMaster, I bought a nice Logitech Wheel for racing games but I never had the space to connect it properly so I took it back. I really like the racing games but just can't enjoy them at home. I go to Dave & Busters and use the games there. My Wife always wins on the last lap (Crazy women driver). I have Deus Ex but never installed it. It came with my sound card. You will enjoy Wolfenstein alot like SoF. Like the fact that you can lean to look around corners and use stealth to snipe the guards. Haven't tried it online yet but SoF was good online..

Sir_Brizz I agree with you on Duke (WHO). I am tired of waiting and hearing {it will be done when its done}. Yea excitement gone now especially since UT2 will probably beat it to the stores.

Keep Fragging

Oh yeah, I had Doom 2 for a little while, but I hated the fact that I couldn't customize the controls. As a result, I sold it to a friend the next day.

I RESENT THAT! I could fully customize my controls! Ray-Casting engines 4ever! </sarcastic>

But you can customize your controls...Honestly, though, Key/mouse combo blows with those "You can't look up or down!" games (because moving your mouse up moves you forward )

I can't even think of all of my UT diversions. I have Max Payne (incredible graphics, story, engine....no multiplayer makes it suck). I've always enjoyed the Descent line, so I have D1, D2, D3, D: FreeSpace, D: FreeSpace 2, D: Vertigo, D3: Mercenary. I used to play the MechWarrior's, until they started to suck (i.e. MechWarrior 3), so I have MW2, and MW2: Mercenaries. I have Half-Life (like anyone that calls themself a GAMER), HL: OF, HL: BS(a waste of my 12$). I played Escape from Monkey Island (great story, but crappy controls), and Curse of Monkey Island (better controls, and great story). Total Annihilation, C&C2, Red Alert 2, Total Annihilation: Kingdoms, maybe a little Starcraft. GIANTS (AWESOME GAME), One Must Fall, Quake 1 (WOOT :p), DOOM, DOOM2, DN:3D, Final Fantasy 7, Donkey Kong 64, Zelda 64 (both of them), Paperboy 64(I hate this game), and the last diversion....PROGRAMMING (C++ mainly).

So if you think you don't have a life, look at the games I've played over the past two years. And that's not even all of them....YIKES!

I have two MS Sidewinder game pads for racing games; they work just fine for me. It's very tempting to get a PS2 just for GranTurismo3, but I probably won't; too much to spend upgrading this rig for Unreal2 and beyond! My brother keeps beating me at the racing games.

Giants and Deus Ex, I believe, will come with my new SBLive card when I get it; I think I'll get the retail this time.

Don't take this wrong, but I was not impressed with Half-Life; the engine was great, but too easy to get stuck on the ladders and railroad tracks. Just ruins the whole flow of the game.

Only played UT and Q3 online, need to try SoF and some others. Definitely, will try Return to Castle Wolfenstein soon!

One more thing, can't wait to get the 100 GB WD HD next year; will add it to my two 20 GB HD's

O.K., now one more thing. I also have a lot of Arcade-type emulators, Bleem for PS and a bunch of games for that; Final Doom and DukeNukem3D are still installed.

All of us really need to get a life! Wait, games are our lives, aren't they?!

SkaarjMaster (aka Someone Else)

P.S. - UT at 2.15 GB now; I try to keep it near 2 GB and leave at least 500MB on the hard drive it is running from.

P.P.S. - working on getting Max Payne soon also; have the demo.

One thing I'm wondering. What would you need 140 Gigs of hard drive space for? When I bought my computer, I splurged on a 30 Gig hard drive, and after installing more software than I can keep track of, I still have it only half filled!

Before I had UT, I was into the RPG scene, specifically Might and Magic 6 and Might and Magic 7. Both of them are still on my computer, as is an exact copy of my Unreal Gold CD. I also have a copy of Jewels of the Oracle, despite the fact that I can't play it due to the fact that it isn't compatible with later versions of QuickTime. You can also add Microsoft Office Small Business, GMax, and MusicMatch Jukebox to that tally. Of course, I only have a modest collection of MP3's (a total of 140), but still, 30 Gigs is plenty for me.

Just because I can, also:

1. so I don't have to uninstall any games for a great while (even though addicted to UT, would be nice to leave Final Doom and DukeNukem3D on there (running Win98SE).

2. MP3's, MP3's, MP3's; I'm actually into music a lot also.

3. would like to hide about 5 GB's to backup my C: drive (I have 2 20GB WD HD's now and each has 4 partitions). The first partition on the 2nd HD is a backup of the C: from the first and is hidden.

4. Building for the future!

Just threw that last one in for the hell of it!

SkaarjMaster (aka Someone Else)

P.S. - got 256 total SDRAM a year ago or more and some people thought I was crazy.

P.P.S. - the HD won't be purchased until the Klipsch 5.1 speakers, SBLive Audigy X-Gamer, New MB-CPU-DDR SDRAM and Video card, though.

Sad to say, Undying is dead. If I remember correctly, sales of it were good for a couple of weeks, then it dropped off the map.
In fact, sales were so bad, the PS2 port was cancelled as well as any hope for a sequel.
There are about a dozen custom maps for it that I know of and only one site covering Undying news:
http://www.3dactionplanet.com/undying/
Undying uses a modified version of UnrealED available here:
http://www.3dactionplanet.com/undying/files/index.shtml#editing
So if you know how to map in Unreal/UT, then you're in luck.
IMO, if you like the demo, then definitely get the full game when it hits the bargain shelf.

That's pretty cool, SkaarjMaster. It just seemed a little out-of-the-ordinary to me.

Thanks for the info, Justin. I did a little investigating into Undying specifically because I had heard that it was based on the Unreal Engine. That makes a version of UnrealEd the natural editor for it then. However, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that such a game would falter. SinglePlayer is what brings a game to life, but MultiPlayer is what keeps it alive afterwards. I really do believe that if Undying had ANY form of multiplayer support (deathmatch, coop, etc.), then it might have more of a community. Well, maybe some brave soul will try to code a multiplayer gametype for it. Can you believe that I almost bought Undying a few months ago instead of Deus Ex?

I played max pain at my brothers house for about two hours, other than that the only game I play, PC or otherwise since it came out is UT. I got the demo for UT when it first came out and bought the full game about a month after it's release. never played Unreal, don't play any other games, though I might try out Red Faction and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. and after christmas I may be getting a PS2 so i can play GT3.

I won't take it wrong Half Life did suck. How it won game of the year is beyond me. I might try a another Wheel fo racing games, i have a little more desk space now. LOL on games are our lives. Yep its true. Started out playing Atari, then Nitendo16, Then finally got a Puter. First Puter was a Packard Bell 486SX25, 170MB HD, 8MB Ram, 2MB Graphics.. It ran Leisure Suit Larry, and DN3D real good. Had a little problem with Doom, thats when I upgraded to a 586P90 that ran like ****.... Wow that was only 1994. :p
