Many people seem to like playing in consoles, and many great games (Grand Theft Auto 3, Metal Gear Solid 2, Halo) are also being created for consoles. Some great games are *ONLY* being created for consoles!!! I don't see any good in consoles, for the following reasons:
1) You can't edit or make mods for console games, heck, you can't even browse through a cartridge or CD!
2) Buying peripherals sucks. What, you gotta buy that memory card just to save something???
3) Buying a console would mean that you crapped on your PC's ability to support games. Same thing as buying a PS2 and Xbox in the same day, and never ever using the PS2.
4) Many of us who play UT are fans of FPS's right? Console controls for FPS's stinks. That finger joystick in the N64 controller, for example, is like playing an FPS with 3 times the mouse sensitivity that you normally use.

What do you think of consoles and PC's?

PC's. It's easier to steal the games, you can constantly upgrade them, the games are better, you can update the games and get mods for them, and most importantly they are MUCH easier to control.

Firm believer in the both option. Many games are better suited on a console and playing them on computer is just a pale emulation. The same holds true for computer games on consoles. I would much rather play Mario64 with a N64 controller on a television than play it with a gamepad on an emulator. I would rather play Tomb Raider on the playstation than on a PC.

I would much rather play UT on a PC, and the same holds true for Diablo II and Command and Conquer.

It all boils down to interface and structure. As the power is more balanced between the two types (which I think it almost is at this point), and broadband connections and harddrives bring modification options, I think it boils down to what is the most applicable platform.

I'd say both.
I prefer the PC for Simulators, strategy (Civilization 3), FPS and the fact that the games can have user-made stuff.

Consoles do better at the 'fastfood'-version of games (ie don't think just play). I've yet to see anything on the pc that is close to DoA 2 or Crazy Taxi.

PC's have their own 'must buy' stuff :
- you must buy an "OS" before you can use the thing (most shops didn't know what Linux was a few years ago and even now you have to find a specialist shop before you can even think about asking this question ...)

- monitors aren't always included in the initial price ...

I'm sort of worried that when I buy a console I wont get used to the controler. Cause I always use a keyboard for everygame.

My friend (a console gamer, almost never playes PC games) REALLY pisses me when he says:
"Oh my God, how the hell can you play UT on a stupid keyboard. Get gamepad. I'd really kick your ass in that game if I could play it on a gamepad."
Argh!!!! This is what consoles do to your mind!!!!!!

THis debate will go on for a while, consoles have a distinct disadvantage of the GUI, you are limited in resolution greatly by the pitiful performance of the NTSC signal, they can "interpolate" all they want, but the PC's monitor is reigning supreme. HD TV might even the score a little, but monitor technology stops for no one.

Max TV res 640X480 (IIRC)
Max Monitor res 1600X1200+

Also doesn't the phosphor in Monitors have a faster reaction time then regular TV?

Now if they produce consoles that use the capability of monitors - look out!

For all of you who think consoles do better in some games because of it's gamepad, that's only covering 1 outta 4 of my reasons why consoles stink. Furthurmore, there are many gamepads for PC games. Also, with racing and sports games, keyboard isn't bad.

MODERTORS, PLZ ADD A "BOTH" OPTION.

I like both. PC's are good for looking at stuff on the internet. Sure they are also good for playing games, but when it comes down to just wanting to play games then consoles beat the PC.

Its just so much easier on a console. You dont have to worry about hardware problems and patching. And the Xbox will be on par with PC's in term of graphics and technology.

Xbox will have a mouse and keyboard to, making it look more and more better then some PC. And it will have built in support for DSL and T1 for internet connection.

What the Xbox doesnt have though is the ability to upload your own files to its hard drive. The hard driver is only used for saved games and to install the games onto the hard drive.

developers have the option of doing that to make there games running faster. Dead or Alive 3 uses both the Hard drive and DvD for loading graphics, sound etc...

And for just gaming consoles are a good deal to. PS2 and Xbox have amazing graphics and are very cheap. The video card the Xbox uses along is about $500.

The Xbox is selling for $300. That is a very good deal.

Also you can hook up your Xbox to your monitor, and Xbox games will run at a resolution of up to 1600x1200.

In the end the fact that you need to upgrade your PC every year to play the latest and greatest games is its failing point and biggest downfall that makes the console win over the PC for playing computer games.

thats true, the addons are a big plus.

and who knows, someday the Xbox or someother console may allow you to make your own maps and mods.

PC: Jack of all trades, master of em all...:D
One thing a hate about consoles: the ****ING GAMEPADS! cant use them, they are so BAD!

And prices: console games are ridiculosly expensive(GTA3 for 699kr!!) And you can get a good pc at just a little bit more then a console - "AMD1.2GHz, 256MB RAM
DVD player, 30GB HD
GeForce2, w/monitor" around 550$ US....

PC. Most console games have too sucky graphics which give me headaches. AND HOW CAN YOU PLAY WITH ONLY BUTTONS?! How can I shoot, aim (right click in INF), jump, crouch, switch weapons, go to a menu, toggle run, jog, and walk, reload, activate attachments, go prone, quick action weapon select, and the vote menu that INF uses with only 10 buttons? And I didn't even dare mention looking up or down! Or strafing! PCs have around 5 times the amount of buttons that a console has! And the mouse is better for control! Sure, you do spend around $500 a year on this thing, but what about new consoles that come out? Judging by the money you spend on the new console and the games put together it's the same as a PC, but with a PC you can still play your old games without having to do any wire switching.

3) I can play INF, surf for pr0n and pretend to work without leaving my seat.
