anything wrong with the package?

i overwrite the Assault folder in

C:\Documents and Settings\MYNAME\My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Published\CookedPC\

the maps i put into custommaps.

now my assault mod is gone and i can't see Assaultmod anymore with this package.


edit:

patch5 (2.1) and titanpack installed. no AS mod listed

Excellent map bloodyboy, its good to see assault is making a come back in the mod scene.
I've been looking for a assault mod ever since ut3 got released.
The other UT99 maps (above this post) crash my game on map load unfortunately. (patch 2.1, assault mod 1.1)

I'm planning an assault map myself as a graduation project for my college.
I was planning on using the UDK to make a single player map but the program simply lacks the critical functionality to make a proper functioning level.

I'm planning on making a level inspired with AS-Glacier from ut2004.
Its not exactly the same but it will contain a vehicle (a new version of my ASMD Tank) I've been working on for some time.

This is a long term project but it will have to be finished by this time next year.
Now I know this mod functions, its time to see if I can.

A question to Cowlike however, does this mod support vehicle escort objectives?
Or could it be possible to support such an objective in a future version, presuming you are still interested in this project?

I've been trying to cook my maps as I can't seem to play them in the editor.
However i get error about it not finding the Unreal.u file, I know I have to add it somewhere to the ini files but I have no idea where and there is no information about it here either.

Also I read through the thread, seems like the mod is dead or dying, the only maps I got to work were the original test maps and the AS-Ballistic map by bloodyboy.

I might have to reconsider :S

Thx Hyperforce but assault is not coming back, Cowlike have never finished to write the code, turret, escort objective... probably because it was only to work on the code.

The mod doesn't support natively the escort objective but it would be possible to configure it using kismet. :) Besides, if you need advice or help dont hesitate to ask me in pm.

Unreal.u ? So the problem is not from the AS mode (Assault.u) but from your game's installation.

If you're looking on the official forum you will find a recent version of AS-Hispeed (kismet were simplified as possible and it works really well).;)
Otherwise I always ten AS maps paused, awaiting an update code.

Does anyone know if there's a UDK mod like this? Or if something like it with the source is laying around to learn from? I'm toying with doing a Return to Castle Wolfenstein style mod which involves a lot of the same gameplay elements as UT assault (I was a UT99 assault player before I played RtCW).

I got it to work more or less, at least my levels cook & start now. still having problems switching teams or entering vehicles but that something I think I can fix.


Is there a way to run this mod from the editor without having to cook it every time. It seems when I do run it from the editor the game doesn't recognize the game-type and puts me in a disembodied spectator style mode.

If only it was as simple. The bugs that I encountered are mainly due to IA, for example:

-if a blue bot leaves one turret (in second objective), and red bot capture it round is blocked
(blue are spawn-killed and don't arrive to destroy the turret)
-after each objective accomplished defender team isn't fully teleported to the next objective
(2 or 3 bot are teleported, other run turning his back)
-bots don't understand how to protect the objective or use the turrets (in the third objective),
in as-ballistic it doesn't see itself because the map was too narrow, this is not the case of mothership.
-in the fourth objective, attacker foolishly go to the console then are exterminated, and it can last indefinitely
-.... :rolleyes:

I might put me in coding to fix these problems if the players were more interrested to play assault than jailbreak. :D
