You know, had Epic and Digital Extremes made Unreal Tournament a complete clone of Half-Life, only replacing the .357 from half-life with, say, a .44 Bulldog (the Son of Sam's gun, for the morbidly curious) then people would have flipped out.
Yet TacticalOps completely rips off Counter-Strike, changes the AUG to a FAMAS, and stands to make money off of it. Not only that but I'm fairly sure they took other mods sounds and code to hasten the release.
Now to top it off, they have the exact same scenarios!

Yep, that's right. Bomb defusal and "witness protection" or "VIP protection" or "Assassination", if you will.
Yes, now you too can play your Counter-Strike clone on AS_Ripoff, DE_Copycat, CS_Clone, and ES_PieceofShit.
I can't fucking believe this.
They take the buying system. They copy virtually all the guns, and get them ALL wrong, solely on the basis that Counter-Strike got them all wrong in the same way. Now they take their scenarios? And there's some of us that are fairly sure that sounds from Firearms HL and coding from several other UT mods were used to produce a quick public version. Yep, they stand to make money off of this.
I wonder if any of the tools of TacOps fans know how much the team is using them just to turn a pretty profit. Yeah, that $25,000 (that Shag shouldn't be able to win, since the rules of contest stipulate that "The Contest is open to legal residents of the United States. Void in Puerto Rico, Vermont, Maryland, North Dakota, Minnesota and where prohibited by law," and Shag is the entrant of the MOD, and he is from France, which should automatically disqualify him and his goddam mod.) Not to mention the name "TacOps" is already a registered trademark of another game, and its pretty much their name too, since they use it more than "TacticalOps".
Does anybody care about this kind of stuff but me? Its this kind of complacence from people that these types of illegal, amoral activities are allowed to continue. Microsoft was broken up for much less, and for operating fairly legally at that.
Makes me sick...
Anyways, I have all the versions of SWAT/TO, and I'll be running comparisons on the so-called "stolen code", and I'll let you know if anything turns up...
