@DEFkon:
I think it is a power suit too, because it looks like it has some artificial miscles, because he looks to fat.
I think the soldiers use the C8 sort of. dunno.
I was browsing some sites and it says it plays 10 years after.. whatever, some war where he was abour 37, so hes 47. The reason why he looks so old is, that hes genetic stuff is messed totally up. He also injects some "stuff" to slow the process. Nonless I love how he looks, the beard is c00l.

What I personally enjoyed is to see him in action, how he was moving (note hes pretty tired and exhausted) and handling the gun. Where he checked the magazine, that was so awesome.

More than likely it's some form of temp treatment for the Foxdie virus intorduced in MGS1.

Solid snake gets injected with a genetically enginered virus designed to affect specific people during his physical / briefing in MGS. The virus was coded to target just about every major player, and was made so that death apeared as a heart attack. liquid & solid snake, the genome soldiers, and the two big hostages who had the codes necessary to arm the nukes / metal gear. It's revieled at the end of the game that Solid snake's Foxdie injection was altered at the last moment so that the dormat period would be random rather than at the end of the mission. - It's been hinted that Naomi hunter - the medic from MGS1 and person who invented the virus will make a re-aperance in MGS4

Snakes advanced age as you mentioned is due to the fact that Solid snake is a clone created from the genetic material of a then 50 year old Big Boss (naked snake) which is supposedly the cause of his "advanced celluar degeneration".

Yeah, but my problem was that it was already done in MGS1 (the concept, not the execution). They aren't including anything original, it's the same crap rehashed made bigger and longer.

I'm just a different gamer. I appreciate originality and complexity more than anything else, which is probably why I stick to mostly US/EU games.

Comparing the MGS sniper duels to the MGS3 one is like comparing a milk truck to a rocket ship.

Psych that movie was cool as hell. I love the FPS part, tapping the shoulder etc. The wind blowing in the map makes it look very alive. Good movie.

Btw, i still have Metal Gear ( Solid snake 1 ) on my MSX as a rompack in the original package. That's the only one i've ever played though. Not my type of game.

I agree on that. Japanses stuff is often conceptually very good, but what I really hate is all that "final fantasy bullsh*t", like all the freaky bosses and characters and this sucky childish humor.

One of the few non-freaky japanese games is Resident Evil. This game is almost 100% "reality", no BS, simply Solid and Serious. I find it creates an even more serious and realistic situation and atmosphere than Splinter Cell and alike, but mostly because you fight zombies, no intelligent (stupid) human AI.

MGS 1 is my only MGS game too, played it about 8 years ago. I plan to play the second PC MGS game. As a MGS player you really need to be a playstation owner, something I never was, I'm not, and doubt I will be in the near future.

I like the idea of MGS, with these mechs. Imo the japanese mechs are the ownage at all, compared to all the mechwarrior bullsh*t. Only the game "Heavy Gear" presented some decent mechs.
But I find MGS is to "abstract", with the weird signals when guard notice you (!), the fixed cams, that do not allow you to look more than 10 meters (I hate that the most), and so on.

But yeah, the video is awesome, the 1st person stuff is ok, but to me still to gamey. But they got the reflex sights correct at least (dot visible only when it is aimed).
I watch the vid every time I boot the PC :p. I LOVE this M4, love the foregrip, love the flashlight on the right, love the EOTech sight, love the Picatinny Rails, especially love the green grips and buttstock.
I LOVE how he reloads the gun, awesome.
Man, I would love to use the exact same M4 customisation in INF.

Anyway, the M16A4/M4A1 rifle design (I speak about design only) is the best rifle design ever, imo, especially when it is customized that way. I find it more "beautiful" than G36, FN F2000 and whatever else.

Rofl, that's... awesome.

Except for you know, zombies. And last I checked this was the 4th time around for the whole "generic hero fighting zombies" thing.

I loved MGS1 and I also played The Twin Snakes (basically MGS1 with gameplay elements from 2) to death. I probably won't be playing MGS 4, since it's on PS3. And I am NEVER going to buy another Sony product again.

Going to watch this video when I get home. I am interested since I loved MGS 1 and TTS. But if the main point of the trailer are the graphics then I shouldn't bother. Even sounds are 10 times more important than graphics, IMO, since they play a bigger part in atmosphere than graphics ever will.

Most people tend to associate "good graphics" with pretty textures and high poly models... for me the first and most prodominate feature in visual effects is animation. You can have great looking models and textures but it's the animation that brings them to life and makes them believeable. Hideo Kojima (sp) has been one of the few people in the gaming industry that are animation nazi's. ;p Actually he's something of a detail nazi altogether.

If you watch it and look at the enemy soldiers walking in the column.. in 99% of the games these soldiers would all be generic clones.. but if you look closely there's slight differences between them. Some are wearing their shades, others aren't. Some have their kneepads on, others have let them on loosely and had them slip down to thier boots. Most are practicing trigger safety (trigger on the side of the gun) some aren't.

In audio terms there's also an amazing level of detail involved as well. Besides the whole worn torn atmosphere of urban combat gun shots, but when the focus is switch to snake, you can hear not only his footsteps but you can tell how his weight is shifting on his feet evne when their out of frame. You can tell that he's walking on a stone floor & that there's sand either on the floor or stuck to his boots.

You could probably watch the trailer 10 times and pick up new details each time through.
